The 2x4's hanging down are left overs from a wall I took down...
They are still hanging there just so I had a place to pin the electrical outlets temporarily. The only outlets in the garage were in that wall before I took it down.
Apologies for the ignorance, but what does furring out the...
ya, I hear you on the leaking. Probably why I'll leave the ceiling 'open'.
The deck was part of the original design of the house. There's massive beams supported by concrete so I'm not worried about the deck above. The only concern with the deck is that parts of it are uncovered (meaning...
Ya, I like bright too. Although in my last garage I went for the daylight lights. I think this time around I'll use an LED that I can change the color. Sometimes when you're hanging out in the garage afterwards having a soda pop... the daylight color seemed a bit harsh.
Although last time I...
Ya, that's sorta the plan. Not in a big rush.
But I also don't even know what I don't know... if that makes sense. All my other garages were wood. Now I have two concrete walls. Does that change anything? other than making it harder to mount anything :)
The beams... on their face they seem...
Its 30 feet deep and 23 feet across. Its got a 16 foot garage door.
The ceilings are 10 feet where the beams aren't and 9 feet to the beams.
Here's another image looking out the front. Apologies for the awful alter. Wasn't sure if my neighbors wanted to be on the post :)
Here you can see...
Hello again everyone.
Well... we've moved. I was sad to leave my old garage but I'm excited for the chance to finish another garage.
My new garage poses an interesting set of opportunities. I thought I would reach out to the group to see if anyone had some good ideas for me.
Normally when I...
Thanks!
I'll definitely look into picking one up. I used to maintain my gear when I was younger but then started taking it in to be professionally waxed after university. Later I realized that the 14 year old behind the counter was anything but... So I started just doing mine and my families'...
Yup, I have a proper iron for my wax. When I do base repair using the ptex, I usually light it on fire. You can tell when the carbon has turned the clear ptex dark... that stuff doesn't go on the board. Eventually it catches itself and there's a blue flame and it drops clear onto the board...
Hey guys,
Seems like now and then I find a need for fire in my garage. Not often... I don't weld or anything like that.
When I wax my board every now and then I'll need to melt some PTex or melt some hockey laces or something like that.
A propane torch seems a bit much... a lighter is not...
Been going hard these past couple days crossing off the list...
Just got my new garage heater sorted out although I need wrap the exhaust pipe I think.
I've got ~9" between the pipe and the nearest wall but I think I'd still sleep better if it was wrapped.
1. Put away the patio furniture...
No worries. Its a detached garage. The finished side you see is the inside of my garage.
I sealed up the inside so well with the poly and drywall, that there's nowhere for the moisture to go. I finished the inside before winter last year and I had a horrible time with moisture. I didn't...
Hacked together this contraption to help get my humidity issue under control
What gets sucked out must come from somewhere... intake vent:
Gotta figure out something for the outside... I bought some soffit vents but they're too long.
Maybe just some mesh to keep out the critters and some...
