Have Your Cake And Eat It Too

I actually did the cheaper alternative. I built a car port off the side of my house. Once the kids were gone, we did build it in to be more of a garage space though. The bottom line is that you just have find more space.

    Property Zoning and Building Usage?

Try the country website for wherever you're planning to move. Fairfax County in VA has a pretty extensive list of zoning ordinances and suchlike (not easy to find what you want, as there is almost too much info). You can expect strict limits on the number of non-resident employees in a...

    Anyone tried Slide Loc Cabinets

How do they anchor to the wall? Screwed into the studs, or something else?

    Anyone tried Slide Loc Cabinets

I had the same question. They look and sound good, but I'd want to see some in person.

Watch out for the GARAGE POLICE!!!!!

Shame on the town zoning/review board for completely failing everybody involved! That said, this guy is an complete ******** and the prime reason I choose to live in a restricted development with an HOA. I don't have issues with the size of the garage, but it looks like a warehouse and if he...

    PA Garage

Looks good. Do you know what size the garage is (looks like 20x20 or close to it)? I'll be renovating my garage this summer, so I'm always looking for ideas for "normal" sized spaces.

    Yard tool storage

No problems, my father has done it forever, and I'll be building an 8x10 shed later this year (that's the largest we're allowed by the HOA). Not insulated, don't see any reason to go to the trouble - it's just storage. I have a small yard, so have a cheap mower - if I had an expensive tractor...

    The Motocross/hotrod Garage

What brand are the cabinets? Or, did you build them?

    Basic garage requirements?

The "three outlets is overkill" comment was in regards to air line, not electrical. I'll def. install two or three outlets per wall and at least one 220v.

    Basic garage requirements?

Do you mean the vapor-barrier should face the garage interior? The one shared wall is already insulated/drywalled. Yeah, it's overkill, but that's half the fun, right?

    Basic garage requirements?

The garage is so tight that I've pretty much accepted moving the cars to do any work. As long as I can access my handtools and the most frequently used sports gear, I should be ok. Stuff on the workbench is usually car related, so I probably don't need access when both cars are parked. Small...

    Basic garage requirements?

Hey all, I'm new to this garage thing (bought my house a little over a year ago). I should have some time and money to do a "build out" of the garage this summer, so right now I'm trying to figure out what I need, want, etc. And what order to do the work. Etc. The house is in Northern VA...
