I figured I would add my Curtis to this thread now that it's complete and I've been using it for a little while with no problems.
I have about 300 bucks into it and it works great, makes a true 15.41 cfm according to http://www.ehow.com/how_5001852_calculate-cfm-air-compressor.html
After dumping that barrel in the washer it's only half full. I checked online and the ZEP 143 is about 400 bucks for that barrel. That explains why it had two filter's for the fluid to run through.
I need to find something that is similar and can be mixed with the ZEP stuff but cost less.
The...
Looking at Craigslist and saw an ad for a "Zep parts washer $100.00"
Went there today and got a "Zep DynaBrute Industrial Cleaner System", 20 gallon drum of Zep Dyna 143 and 7 new cartridge filter's.
It was from a gas station service center that is going out of business.
How much lower hp did you go?
I've heard of someone else that did that and it worked also.
Yes the old 3 ph motor's are worth scrap money, I listed mine on Craigslist two weeks ago for $20.00 and still no interest.
If you run it right off the pressure switch, it will burn out probably the third time it tries to start up again. That's why you need to use the magnetic starter.
In my opinion you can use the existing starter, the rating say's FLA 25. I just did this swap from 3 phase to single on my Curtis...
Thanks.
I spent 150.00 on the new(used) 5hp motor.
About 30.00 at home depot for some fittings and the 1" shut off valve.
The 3/4" check valve was online for 18.00 shipped.
The piston ring kit was 65.00 shipped, cylinder honing done myself.
I qt of oil 4.00.
I stole the press. switch from my old...
Here it is finished.
This thing is awesome takes less than 6 minutes from 0 to 150 psi and it's quiet, could easily converse while standing next to it.
I had to replace the piston rings. Second stage leaked bad due to (I think) the lack of a check valve so I also installed a in-tank check valve.
Here's my cart. I wish I would have built it smaller due to only having a 2 car garage for a shop and it needs a steel top. But it was my first welding project a few years ago.
I'm guessing this is a new or pretty new furnace if it's 96%.
If so, the trap would not have to be filled for it to fire.
We install these all the time and never fill/prime the traps.
Did you check/adjust the gas pressure at the manifold now that it's firing?
I bet it's low and why your temp...
Doesn't sound like your checking for 24v properly.
If it get's as far as the ignitor glowing, then you have 24v at ALL limit switches and pressure switch.
Depending on how long the gas line is, maybe it's not purged enough.
Cycle it over and over and I bet it will fire.
Found a motor for it and now it's starting to all come together.
I'm a little unsure of the unloader's, seems that I have what's called "air pressure unloader's" or "suction unloader's"
I don't plan on running the compressor continuous which is what I think these are for but I'm not sure how the...
Last reply to this and then you guy's can whine all you want about it.
Look at my original post "$400.00 vise for $99.00 ???" It was posted as a question because it was very obvious that there was something strange about it.
First thing you guy's did was accuse it of being made in China so...
I don't get the mentality here.
They make a mistake and it's ok to take advantage of it? Seems kind of slimy to me.
FYI, I didn't order the vise or send them an email. The original post is right here from another forum I frequent...
