    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

I've read that with the proper shielding one could take metals and etch them, but some of the stuff I have seen I had thought were roll imprinted. Maybe they weren't. Maybe etched instead.

That is so neat. :) Do you happen to have any books you'd recommend on the subject?

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

I've been thinking of adding a light over Betzy's welder also, Really is pretty dark in the shop and aligning the blades can be taxing when you are doing multiple holes. In your search for bulbs did you find any of the 110V small light fixtures like the one you have on your welder? By the...

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

The loc-line works great. It does move around a bit with each burst of air but nothing to bad. Maybe 1/4" total, 1/8" either side of center. I used 18" complete length including fittings and more than likely will add 2 more segments in to get 20" total length. I bought 2 kits figuring this...

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

Ouch, now I can see why you want to use the fork lift. The table on my saw by the way is only 2 way adjustable. I believe yours is 4 way correct? It being a 2 way is more than likely why it survived the move with the fork lift. I have seem several DoAlls with tables looking like there ready...

Well, I would say I've only run maybe 1/4 of the race then. I think you have a few extra laps compared to my refurb. I mean lets face it a complete rebuild is what you did vs just clean and spiff up.

I have also found that the simpler something is the harder it is to understand. See it in Ninpo all the time.Though I have to say, I didn't understand the DBW-8 until I had it completely apart and watched it work a few times. It really is a clock work assembly. Rube Goldberg would be proud...

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

It is funny that the Old is now the new. It seems that your welder design was pretty much the standard. The welder in my machine DBW-8 seems to have been the last of the line in terms of gear drive. All the newer one's from what I can tell are setup just like your DBW-1 with a few minor...

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

yup, your welder is dramatically different for the working part. Your doesn't seem to have the gear drive like mine. It's more like the Powermatics with a spring for upset pressure.

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

That is so cool. Can't wait to get it back and into Betzy. Of course now the Band tension meter will need cleaning. :eyecrazy: And Thanks again. Jennifer

    The Hammer

That is really neat. How much pressure do you figure is holding the handle once it expands again? What is the likely hood that you would shatter a handle from Cold short properties in the handles?

    The Hammer

As always outstanding. I have an older Lyman precision gunsmiths hammer and it's not nearly as nice as the one you machined up, nearly the same size though. Nice job. My lightest hammer is 6 Oz, and my largest is 20lbs. Always wanted and old timer 30 pounder, but have only seen these in a...

    Rebuilding a Do-All V-36 band saw

nealcrenshaw, Thanks, I do my best and for the most part. Someday I hope to have the area to really be more involved with the restoration aspect of these machines, but for the time being I'm just keeping them alive. A_Pmech, Thank you very much. I really appreciate people who are detailed...
