When you say replace you mean chop the visible part and splice? Or unwind/free them completely and then splice? You can say I've never done this before, hence all the questions. Many thanks for the help guys.

From personal experience, it's a very solid, smooth ratchet. It is less bulky (or more compact) than 'older' 916 but not as small as 916K. I will try to get some pics for you today to show the differences between all three. Hazet offer the same design 1/4" ratchet (p/n 863-1) so might be worth...

Indeed a timely thread! I have a similar issue as others, only I didn't take my grinder apart (yet): 1) I need to manually start the spin every second time 2) Grinder runs very hot after about 5-10 mins - I can't hold my hand on it for more than a few secs 3) Yesterday in the middle of a job...
