I began my fascination with old stuff when I restored my 1970 Chevelle in high school, which I still have. I went on to other stuff, including a pedal car restoration for my daughters and fixing up other stuff people would throw away that was of value or use. I have fixed up a 1923 two story Craftsman-style house that we moved with us when we took new jobs (long story). I have since been trying to fix up the basement with materials like period correct doors and trim that have been salvaged from elsewhere to make it look like it should have originally been there. During the summer, a friend and I (both teachers) began doing small construction jobs and I have found that I enjoy working with wood. My two girls also enjoy the playhouse I built for them, a miniature of our house.
