    What to buy from Matco?

They have a set of double ended, ratcheting box wrenches with two flex joints per side. I never have been able find them anywhere else. I don't use 'em all that often, but when I do they are damn useful. Wait 'till they go on sale, they are pricey.

    Repair shop owners! Software help

I'll second a vote for VAST - Its quite popular even with franchise chains. My current shop is a larger family owned company and our POS is developed in house, but I've used just about everyone out there. I'd avoid the mitchell/all data programs and definitely anything web based! There is...

    wheel bearing installer for Ford/Mazda/Volvo

What year? I've yet to meet a focus my hub grappler can't handle. Pricey, but soooooo worth it. Trying to convince myself to buy the hydraulic ram update for it.

How would you yank out a bushing bolt?

Sometimes you just gotta be destructive. For example, some HHRs (inexplicably popular around here, and they EAT rearward front control arm bushings) the bushing will be so worn that the bolt, when siezed to the metal sleeve at the center of the bushing is turned, the entire bolt/sleeve spins...

    Is there a difference?

Thanks, The garage is detached and I cannot find any local code (MI) requiring the r-38 as it is not a living space. I was planning on adding blown in over the top eventually as well. Is the R-38 because of ice dams? It probably won't get heat before it gets additional blown in.

    Is there a difference?

I am working on insulating my detached 2 car, and I'm planning on using R-19 batts in the ceiling. However, the home center specifically indicates that the faced 23" wide batts are for wall use only. Is there an actual difference between ceiling and wall insulation? I thought the main issue...

What is the specific vehicle? Maybe I can help.... I generally use a ball joint press or a shop press to push bushings.

Which mechanics stethoscope has the best build quality and sound quality?

I've used the lisle for many years. Tell y'all a secret...if you want you find vacuum leaks just remove the "probe" from the hose. That works well and I don't think that funnel will fit in all the places you need it to.

    A/C gauges vs micron gauges

If you have opened the AC system, you need to either buy all the tools to do it right or take it to a pro. A/C recharges are not expensive. I think we get $70 incd the 1st lb and $25 for each additional. The little cans you can buy are for topping off, and even that is stupid. Your A/C system...

Rule of thumb on tree removal pricing.

Just got a quote for the pine in front of my house. Its about 28" in diameter, maybe 50ft tall. $700 to cut and clear/chip/clean, +$100 to grind the stump 3" below grade. 'course they want $300 if all I want is a trim... Second company was $50 cheaper on the trim, $50 more on the...

    Weed Killer....

Good advice here, I tried the Home Depot weed & grass killer..."works in three hours" it claims. Might as well be water and fertilizer. Went through the whole 2.5 gallon container in 4 applications 1 day apart each (man, my poor wrist), and the weeds said "Please, sir...I'd like some more!"...

Anyone know how to find out what these OTC wrenches are for?

OTC 652...now there is a name I have not heard in a long time... But yeah, alignment wrenches. I'm sure if I dig deep enough I can find the set I bought (used) 15 years ago from a guy retiring and have never used...
