Can I ask who did your plating, and were you happy with the results? Any lost items, or maybe too soon to tell? Good call on the revised Datsun plan!

Was that just a nickname for the tool, or was the lathe purchased for work on the movie released in 1964? I am looking forward to seeing your desk completed in the future!

Awesome. A similar hammer is on my list once my lathe is finished. Glad to help with the drafting portion when you're ready, Gregor.

Here's hoping the torsion bar issue is an easy fix! Can I ask where you sourced your flexible heater air hoses, the ~2.5" red ones? I need a few feet of that for my 928, but I can only find it in short pieces from 911 vendors.

Congrats on the AC install. You are going to love everything about that hyper heat unit, except the Comfort app. It's the worst piece of software I've ever seen.

I'll mail you a can of the 3M stuff. It is nasty, but it works better than anything else. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZIM9XPI/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Steve, do you connect a battery maintainer on your VW? I've doubled my average battery lifespan since I started using them. I picked CTek because Jay Leno seems to use them, but I've seen the same improvements at work with NOCO maintainers as well.

So cool to see this project nearing completion! You might want to consider skipping the breakaway bolts on the column. Removing them is such a pain, if you ever have future electrical issues.

Thanks Odis. My heads are 928, so they likely have more in common with your Ferrari than air cooled Porsches. :D I'll check in with Jack.

Odis, would you share the machine shop used? Are they local here in the PacNW? Beautiful work! I may have some Porsche heads to send them next winter...

While I have no experience with Ferrari hoses, chances are they're built by an OEM with high standards. Since the originals lasted ~25 years, my vote is for a set of genuine hoses. Several decades experience with Porsche and Toyota hoses and I've never seen issues, while I have seen numerous...

Unfortunately too late to help, but you can eliminate a bunch of the oil can effect on roof panels by stapling a ~1/4 foam backer rod to the sheeting, running down the centerline of each panel. It puts a tiny amount of crown into each panel. Shop looks great, the cathedral ceilings are...

Overnight soak with WD-40 also works very well for old cosmoline removal. It's soft enough the next day it will scrub off with your favorite degreaser. I have the same goal, all my cars at an event someday... hasn't happened yet!
