Thanks guys! It's a ton of fun to do, plus I'm learning a whole lot as well. Also I tried my hand at metal roses. These are all out of stainless steel, so no rust or paint. I'm quite pleased with them, and the girlfriend loved it.

Some metal prep would go a long way in making your welds turn out, though! Love the detailed thread, makes me want to start building my carhauler! :rocker:

A couple of things I've been doing recently. One of my favourites is that for a job, I'm teaching an autistic teenager how to weld, fab, design, build and create a motorized go-kart. This is a kid who before I walked in the door, had never even touched a welder. Now he's doing jobs for his dad...

FCAW is used all over in structural applications. They just built an overpass and I stopped for a second to watch, they were running FCAW around the embedded structural pipe posts.. and I can hardly guess, but I'd say the pipes were maybe more than 15 feet in diameter. Those who say it looks...

Entirely disagreed. Time is money. We had about 7 heavy fab tables at the shop. Thankfully it was non-critical stuff, excavator equipment, but obviously you keep it as square as possible. Having a table like that would have prevented just about all of the tables being welded all over with tabs...
