I think I agree. This PE fund seems to be into investing in US manufacturing. I took a look at their list of companies and scrolled all the way to their first investment 5 years ago alco.com who make hydraulic fittings. They are stlll there, have expanded since 2019 and have Made in USA splashed...
Not a drill press, but I used the same HF top chest to better use the space under my Shoptask 3-in-1 (which is one third drill press?)
Before and after stand mods.
Even thought the chest is a great price, I was in there a month later and they had an open box return one, same color, at half...
Finished my workbench. First decent work surface I've had here. 31x96, 2x2 tubing, 3/4 ply top with white hardboard surface

This isn't mine, but it was a high spot of my recent vacation. It's in the shop at the railroad in Ely Nevada. They let you wander around the shop unsupervised.
I want bigger tools.

10 years ago I'd do it myself. If She'd let me. Frankly, the idea of putting up the 45 degree roof attic trusses and roofing it seems a might hazardous as a beginner project, so even if I go DIY, I'd get someone else to do that. And the concrete, And the stucco. If that's farmed out there's not...
I did. I'm Scottish and my dad was in the trades, so I've always done my own work on the house. I did hire a tile guy once, but he took my money then declared bankrupcy. But I'm getting older and I've never done something this big. And She says I never finish things completely.

if all the prices are double the house fixes will eat all the possible funds anywat by the sound of it. We've been here 20 years and I've done all my own renovations to date, so I've not had to deal with labor costs. If the diff is mostly labour the DIY may be the way to go. Or move......

I'm in Livermore, CA about 50 miles east of San Francisco.
We just had a contractor out to do estimates on fixing various things on the house and asked him ballpark what would a 500 sq ft detached garage/workshop with attic space cost? He said about $125/sqft i.e. $60k. :yikes:
Google had been...
fixed the clutch on my 56 Ariel, modding it to a 2.5 plate setup by using a later basket I had with ferodo inserts and modding the back plain plate to make it contact by turning out another one and welding them together. Accellerate!

I read in an earlier thread is that it is for gasoline fumes if you have a leak. I think those fumes are heavier than air.

I'm sure I saw on one of those DIY shows trusses being delivered directly to the top of the walls, using a hydralic arm on the truck. Ask your truss supplier if they do that.

I have that scar too. It was a 1 inch chisel. It's still a 1 inch scar. My dad was a cabinetmaker and kept them razor sharp. I was using to make a stick pointy.
I also dropped his teak fold up workbench on my head when I was about 6.
