    I will say this - age should be considered in this equation. If a person is 75 + years, why would he want a 30,000.00 system ? They could not live long enough to break even.

    I run my 220 welder 50 amp receptacle fed with 10/3 wg - separate circuit with 30 amp breaker. My ac is fed separate with own feed and circuit breaker. May as well try to do it right - good luck.

    Install proper size box. Next forget #16 and use #14, wg - I only use #16 and smaller inside control cabinets for - usually machinery. Please do not skimp on wire size.

    If you go to work for an electrical contractor leave about oh. at least 90% of these tools at home. Take a small tool box with basic hand tools and maybe your own VOM meter.:beer:

    All ways start at the line (power ) side of the stop switch. If the machine will not start then no power to the line side of the switch. Check this first before you tear into the low voltqage system.:rocker:

    I would use what I have - nothing wrong with the panel you were given ! I spent 60 yrs in the electrical trade, inside wireman and elec. eng.

    I am in Arkansas and my shop hus stick built with 2x4 studs and 2x4 truss roof - ceiling. I had a pole barn before and I like this the best. Yes walls are 24" on center, no problem.

    Romex in EMT

    You have 14/2 wg - If you have the wire why not buy some 3/4" emt run it then put one 14/2 wg into it. When you put to many wires into a pipe you run a chance of to much heat causing a fire.Yes I have seen the damage it can do.be save, in electricity safety is very important.

    My goodness - You need 2 hot wires, one neutral wire, &* one ground wire back to the service panel.Neutral & ground are to be separate all the way back to the service panel where they connect. If you want to drive a ground to outside building please do so but it will not replace the service ground .

    Looks to me - run a horizontal just over the window. Then drop 2 vertical to hold the panel, yes a piece of plywood would be good to mount panel.

    I done mine the simple way - came off my 200 amp.service added a 100 amp disconnect, ran to my shop from that plus a neutral and grd wire.No problem at all.
