In a process og simplyfieng my life, and workshop. I've got two that I'm very happy with. I use the little one alot and clamp it vertical and horizontal all over the place, to match the job. Pics are from when I bought them, both are cleaned up beautifully now, in respect to their patina earned...

I had like 1mm in total in both end (l&r side). Solid hardened tool steel (former toolmaker, so I can tell), so thats why i needed to scrub of most with an angle grinder. I got a pretty decent result after some work at the belt grinder [emoji4]

I have spend a few hours fixing my new vise today. Took it apart, cleaned it and mounted it on my workbench ready for next project. Its actually in a great shape, not much sign of wear except for jaws that needs to be ground. Its got four layers of paint; original red, green, blue and silver...
