Condenser - but on SECOND outside wall?

I am building an interior 250 sf room *inside* an existing out-building (sports, bourbon, cigars, music, etc.). I will put a 9,000 BTU mini-split inside the interior room and bought 25' line set to run in the loft above to the outside. I get a lot of snow and the (self-proclaimed) HVAC expert...

    Cave Space air/heat question

Thanks - interesting idea. But, I don't want to put a hole in the wall (and it might be a little noisy) - my wife would kill me as it is a beautiful barn overlooking our fire pit and yard. But, I hadn't even thought about that - seems better than occupying a window. Still thinking mini-split...

    Cave Space air/heat question

Well, I think the best thing for me to do is what Terry D said: buy a DIY model (in the neighborhood of $1000 - $1500) - quick connect (so no vacuum pump is needed) and using 120v (limiting the need for 220 change). Even if I hire some help, I figure it will save me $1000 or so. I don't feel...

    Cave Space air/heat question

Thanks. The U-Shaped still hang out side the window, from what I understand. And, I have casement/slider windows that only open 14.5" so even the casement style air conditioners don't fit. I don't love the idea of the portable, but I don't think I have much choice. But, I welcome these ideas...

Window Screen Clips - Parts Advice Needed

Hi - yea, I had a screen made at Ace Hardware and they said they could not get parts. Talked to a local window guy and same thing.

Window Screen Clips - Parts Advice Needed

I think this part looks right but it's discontinued and Anderson says if you have a screen made before 1997 using this part there is no replacement and new screens must be purchased - ugh...

Window Screen Clips - Parts Advice Needed

Hi - yea, I used Google but nothing came up that looks like these parts. I'll keep hunting.

Window Screen Clips - Parts Advice Needed

Thanks - their website didn't have a parts search function so I just emailed them.

    Cave Space air/heat question

I just bought a house with a great detached "barn" - has a bay on the left for my car, with a bay behind for lawn equipment. Along the length is an area I want to build into my cave space for bar, music, cigars, sports, bourbon. I'll frame both ends and it will be about 26' x 10' (so very...

Window Screen Clips - Parts Advice Needed

I'm looking for advice on replacement clips for Certainteed window screens. The local hardware store says they don't sell these but I figure there has to be parts somewhere in the internet universe. I've posted pictures to show what I need - they spin to push the little bar to the sides to...

Wood Shed Man Cave - Insulation and Mice Advice

Great advice and it is much appreciated. I may be over-thinking it. Guy at Menards who is a builder told me if if I'm just breathing (e.g. no cooking), have a window and fan (which I will... for the occasional cigar!), and am only using it on weekends, and plan electric heat - then, don't vent...

Wood Shed Man Cave - Insulation and Mice Advice

Walrus, good point about moisture on windows (assuming this is because warm interior air would collide with cold windows?). Would this still be true with double pane windows, or does it have something to do with propane itself? Bretny, are you using fiberglass or mineral wool in the walls and...

Wood Shed Man Cave - Insulation and Mice Advice

I need advice on man cave insulation. I think I have a plan but am not sure about a few things after reading numerous websites. I’m buying a prebuilt, wood, new construction 16x12 shed with a 16x4 covered porch (footprint = 16x16; interior = 192 sf). I’ll have 2x4 walls and 16” on center...

    New Signage for Strange Days

Holy Cow - now THAT is a great sign! I saw on your site (pretty awesome stuff you've made, by the way) that you are going to retire from the business soon. Heck, I figure you could make a living just punching out that sign and selling it over and over! Well done!
