    Buffalo socket

Cheap "house brand" from the 70's and 80's. Buffalo had their name on everything from electric drills to bench grinders and whole array of hand tools... all Japan or Tiwan made junk.

Tom Silva of "This Old House" uses Festools

Currently I'm in the process of setting up a second hobby woodshop and I have to admit Tom Silva heavily influenced my recent Festool purchase... Festool; Dust Extractor CT36, Router OF1400, Domino DF500 Joiner, T18+3 Cordless Drill, Carvex PS420 Jigsaw, ETS 150/3 Random Orbital Sander, Track...

Tom Silva of "This Old House" uses Festools

I don't think they're all that out of line. For one, they are made in Germany and the German workers are paid a decent wage. I think what everybody is used to is China prices, which are unbelievably cheap... if tools were still being made in the USA I think they would be priced very...

Best place to buy Bessey clamps.

The Bessey K-Body Revo clamps are made in the USA. Home Depot stocks the 24" & 50" sizes.

    Good Plunge/Fixed Base Router combo?

The Festool OF1400 Router comes in a stackable modular case (as do all Festool tools) and also comes with 8mm, 1/4" & 1/2" collets. Here's my small collection of Festool Systainer cases awaiting moving into the shop...

    Good Plunge/Fixed Base Router combo?

What are you going to use the fixed base for that you can't do with the plunge base? Is dust collection important to you? Than look at the Festool Router (OF1400) and Dust Extractor (CT36) combination... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004U4TN32/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Best dust control of any router...

    Air blow gun

I like the Milton S-107--compact, simple & effective design. I've used one since the late 70's and highly recommend it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00176CWNY/?tag=atomicindus08-20

    Craftsman plastic socket rails...

I switched from the plastic Craftsman rails to the Kobalt Aluminum Socket Rails. I like them better because they don't flex & bend like the plastic rails and they're longer. Lowes doesn't sell extra socket clips, and while the Craftsman clips look awfully similar, they are too large and...

How to mount a 3-hole router to a 4-hole table?

Looks to me like you're missing a part of the table. Maybe it was made to be used with a router lift?

Any advice picking a stubby 3/8 flex?

Here I thought I was the only one who likes that style - I have a few of them... When I'm working on something with different size bolts I usually set them up so that I can change ratchets instead of trying to swap sockets. Never felt the need to upgrade them.

    DIY Socket Board

Too bad could have saved you some time, the Snap-On catalog has the sizes listed -- -- the "B" column gives the size you want, even if you're sockets are a different brand the overall size isn't going to vary much.

So I need an engraving tool...

Sears used to offered custom laser etching on some socket sets... 2-lines, 12 characters... based on the price of the personalized and regular 50 & 180 piece sets it seems like it was about $.25-.30 cents a piece.

    Reasonable 3/8" ratchets

The problem with personal recommendations is that few, if any. have used or own all the brands made, so we recommend what we use and like. That being said, I'll throw out my suggestions... You can't go wrong with Snap-On -- even at twice the price of other recommendations we're still not...

    Snap-On box tips over--ugly result!

The usual method this happens is that after it starts to tip other draws will open in a cascade effect and there's no stopping it. This is the reason I have about 200 pounds of lead plate in the bottom under the last drawer. If you take out the bottom drawer you see that there is about 3" of...
