So after some more research I was learning about Ride boards instead of ridge beams. Not much information on the internet about this. But with a ridge beam design the roof strength comes from the rafters creating an opposing force and hence the ridge beam can technically be as long as needed...

Didn't realise we can't ask questions to those who know more? I'm pretty competent myself and as you can tell I've done my own research but would like some validation as to whether I'm on the right lines.

For the H26 the adjustment is done via eccentrics. For the M3 their isn't a shim kit I know off. You can order from BMW dealers for £10 a shim or from Alfa classic for £3 a shim.

Finally got round to rebuilding the head for the H26 Took the m3 out for a spin here a pic resting up after. Really fun car to drive!!

Always nice to hear from fellow bmw enthusiasts. The m3 recently had a water leak from the rad so I replaced it. While I was at that I decided to do the valve clearance. Feels like a different car only 3 shims replaced but it's made a big difference.

But I'm still making time to get out and drive when I can [emoji2]

So haven't updated this in a while. Light resto on the hartge turned into a full resto

Looking majestic in the snow. Bought this tool cart. Has come in handy a few times.

Will post more pics of the Hartge once I've finished the light resto. Yes plenty of space inside. I will be able to fit 3 cars inside. But when working 2 cars is better as more space to move about.
