A/C Recommendation for my 24x26 insulated garage

Really good advice from everyone. This is truly a great forum. I think my plan is to spend the money and do it right vs. do it right now. I like the idea of the in-wall solution, between my windows kind of high up toward the ceiling. More research to come. Thanks B-Stead *** www.97M3.com

A/C Recommendation for my 24x26 insulated garage

I have a 24x26 insulated garage, with insulated garage doors. It has 9 ft ceilings. It stays nice and warm in the winter, however, in the summer it stays not so nice and ... hot. It sometimes gets to 92 degrees, which is fine, but when I want to be out there - I cannot enjoy the garage time...

A couple more pic's ... about done. Need to get the flat screen going, add in the last few cabinets for tools, etc. And then flooring ... aaahhh flooring. Maybe next year - not sure what I want to do yet.

Anyone ever have a false alarm in their garage?

FireX works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Replaced the BRKs in my entire house system with FireEx brand. I used FireX smokes, CO, and even the heat sensor in the garage. Problem solved. It seemed afterall that the BRKs, while an excellent brand for most, are a little more sensitive to the RF...

Anyone ever have a false alarm in their garage?

No, they only go off because of the frequency found in flourescent lighting. And of course, if the temp climbs abobve 135F. I'm putting in the FireX heats tomorrow. Will report back, as I mentioned. I'm just baffled as to how people successfully put heat sensors in garages with flourescent...

Anyone ever have a false alarm in their garage?

I am going to change my garage and whole house over to Kidde/FireX on Monday. Will report back what happens! (Btw - my BRK heat detector, while disconnected and on the battery, sitting on my workbench all alone, about 12' away from the closest light ... still tripped when I turned the...

Anyone ever have a false alarm in their garage?

No kidding! That's the same thought I had. No way am I moving my lights. I have 4 8' double-beams and I almost went with 6! Here's my build thread, if you're interested: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105272

Anyone ever have a false alarm in their garage?

Gonna try Kidde/FireX today or tomorrow. My electrician said the Kidde/FireX ones work the best, though both brands say not to put them close to flourescents. I am hoping the Kidde/FireX work when positioned 4' away, as in my case. Can I just buy 2 Kidde/FireX ? Or, do I need to buy 7 for...

Anyone ever have a false alarm in their garage?

Help! It seems my BRK heat sensor alarms get tripped about every other time I flick on the high-output flourescent lights in my garage. The customer service people at BRK say I need to mount the sensors 8' away from flourescents. The directions say 1.5'. I'm currently 3 or 4 feet away. Has...

Do you have info on the Brookline event? I would consider going if around that weekend. Things are crazy with the build lately.
