    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

Croixboy: It was expensive. Crack Filler, Primer, Epoxy and Sealer amounted to $1,400 or almost $2 a square foot. Tool rentals and miscellaneous supplies were easily another $300. It could definitely be done for less. I had $500 in crack filler alone. Most garages won't need that. I have...

Benwah: Thanks very much. I used two colors of semigloss latex paint and taped the angle line with Frog tape.

3/8ths roller and flat squeegee. I had trouble getting the epoxy spread out and rolled smoothly. It may be that a notched squeegee would work better. Perhaps others on this forum have knowledge to share on that.

48Ron54: Yes, the comment about my being a professional mime was total sarcasm. I enjoy punchlines even more than I enjoy projects. I am glad you liked the write-up and I hope it helps a few people the way other stories helped me.

    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

Job Done! I used HD3506 for the sealer and it seemed to cover fine. I seem to have put it on too thin as I had 1/2 gallon left over (covered 800 feet with what should have covered only 600). It looks good and is premium product so we will see how well it holds up. I used half the recommended...

    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

Rigore: I will tell you what I did, though others may have better ideas. First of all I did not use a tray for primer or epoxy. Legacy came in Gallon portions which I mixed into a large bucket (provided in kit). I just poured ribbons on the floor and then squeegeed and rolled them. Truth be...

    Wolverine Epoxy Floor

I just finished mine and opted to cut a scribe line. It worked great. Others on here said that tape bled. That being said, I would not hesitate to try gorilla tape if the floor was already vacuumed and you were ready to go. In my (very limited) experience, the epoxy is thick enough that any...

    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

July 23rd: Primer and Epoxy! I laid primer in morning. By studying what others had done on GJ I did this alone and got three gallons down in 58 minutes. We laid the Epoxy in the evening. I had a friend, Steve, come over and I highly recommend getting help. Sure, I could have done it...

    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

The Floor Prep Begins July 5, 2014. My wife and kids left for the fourth of July week-end. I asked for my wife's opinion on getting rid of the paint stains as she was driving away. She yelled "Get a Stripper" as she drove away. Hmmm, "get a stripper"? That's a funny direction for a wife to...

    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

Decision Made and Why: It all started when I was cleaning this spring and decided to repaint the ugly yellowed retaining wall that serves as the back wall of our garage. I went looking for paint at the HD and saw the epoxy kits (oooo, pretty). The seed was planted and I started researching...

    800 SF Legacy Epoxy Garage - A Newbie's Story

Hello everyone. Like others on here, I have learned a ton from this journal and want to pay it forward by telling my story. I know there are other good vendors out there and I opted to go with the Legacy Industrial products because I wanted a complete line from crack filler to primer to...

Not happy with flake job, sand and re-coat?

I just had the same problem but the applicator was a VERY good friend -- Me. I asked Scotty a couple different ways to fix it but I accept there are none other than re-coating and re-flaking. Anything less will just make it worse. I am letting it go. In my experience nothing in this world is...
