2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

What's your location TooMuchHair? My shop is the same as yours, only me working in there, maybe one other guy. I've had two HVAC friends bring up air filtration as well. When you say "incredibly cheap for the A/C in the summer"... What are we talking ? If you're willing to share your...

    Aluminum Dash

Thought I would post up a pic of an aluminum dash I finished this morning for a pulling truck. If y'all would like to see anymore stuff let me know. Always building something.... CNC Plasma, mig, tig, ally, steel, stainless, pulling trucks, hot rods, you name it! [/IMG] [/IMG]...

2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

These are all excellent points. I will have to see after the install exactly how warm/cool I will be able to keep the shop based on the cost. Electricity here is plenty reliable. This is still a ways out so Ive got time to keep researching before I make a decision. I would love to keep it...

2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

So mini splits really only on the compressor to produce heat? No secondary heat source is required for colder temps (resistance, propan, NG...)?

2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

More great points. Yes, this a working environment. Machining equipment, fab shop stuff, CNC Plasma cutting, welding......... I honestly do not have a preference. If the factors of performance, maintenance, and efficiency are all a wash (making fair comparisons) then I guess it would come...

All good info guys. Should I rule out a traditional HVAC system then?

2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

Thanks Jackfre. So what your saying is a dual zone 24kbtu for the large area and a single for the small shop? I'm guessing the dual zone will still be one condenser outside and then two wall hangers inside? Not sure if my terminology is correct. lol

2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

When you say "fans".... You're referring to fans to help circulate the air correct? I had planned on a couple of fans in the big shop anyway, so that's not a problem.

2800 square heat pump vs mini splits

Here's the rundown..... The new shop is 2000sq/ft, 13 ft ceilings. Pole barn construction, sealed as best as I can, with R19 in the wall and R40 cellulose in the attic. 3 10x10 insulated garage doors. The old shop that is attached to the new shop is 800 sq/ft with a 9 ft ceiling. It is...

forAK...... Check out my thread from the last couple of weeks. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=350546 I had the same questions. Lots of conflicting answers and opinions on this matter. In my thread there are a couple of links posted by other GF members that had...

    Heating and Cooling 2000sq ft

I did DC73. Thanks for the link and the site advice. After reading the info there and some other research Ive opted to go WITHOUT the vapor barrier on the inside. I actually just came inside to get some coffee and figured I would check GJ this morning. Its like an icebox in the new shop...

    Heating and Cooling 2000sq ft

600SL, Just got done checking out your build. That's an awesome shop! Great work. I wish I had started this on another thread... I think I will opt to go with no vapor barrier on the conditioned side of the insulation. I have bee thinking hard about what some of the other members has...

    Heating and Cooling 2000sq ft

I have found information all over the place that says to put the poly on the conditioned side of the insulation, and info that says not to use it. Can anybody that has been through this decision close to my climate please chime in and tell me if they have had any negative effects? I'm getting...
