If the ball joint is still good, an option is to find a replacement boot and just install that. I had to do this on my audi urq because sourcing a new ball joint was a PITA. One thing I did recently was bought a Deutsch connector kit to use when I run across janky stuff with trak auto crimp on...

Ordered a set to try and will install next week. Thx! Great advice - went last friday and filled up 2x2gal sprayer bottles. Went through that in no time so I'll head there tomorrow first thing for another refill, then back again for another refill if they'll let me. New clutch on the...

My memory is kinda foggy on it but maybe the pic was taken from the outside of the carousel which is 6?

Not sure if you want the story or finished product but heres the short story. Started as a track toy. Then bought the '81 to take over that duty and began the rebuild on the '72. That led to my wife deciding I needed a bit more garage space so I moved into a 16x45 RV/garage condo. The end...

Welcome to August! Its been a bit without updates but for sure lots has been going on. I paused work on the '81 - I got a quote from Elephant racing and am not ready to make that level commitment yet. Limited cash and I'm prioritizing something else. Skidoo or Polaris for mountain sled? In...

...which is why I'm so good at procrastinating this part of it. I only need the cage out before putting the interior back together. So not doing the hard work isn't actually slowing me down. I've been going through the car and building a list of parts to order aside from the suspension kit...

I have the main pieces cut out - a few cuts with the sawzall and went through two blades. The cage was in there - quite a bit of compression when the cuts were made and it was binding on the blade. And you are right with the cage ties - they are also in tight spaces. I'll get to the easy ones...

Re: snow removal - keeping certain roads clear is part of the HOA contract every land-owner signed? If that's the case, people with vacant land are lucky that there haven't been charges to clear the roads specified in the HOA contract...since that happens to be because nobody lives there in the...

The welding table arrived. A little snafu on shipping - it was supposed to be delivered to my door w/ liftgate etc. But it was too big/heavy for a local delivery guy's equipment. I got tired of waiting for the shippers and manufacturer to come up with a plan of action while it sat 15 miles...

A few updates... First, I drove to Denver on Sunday to pick up a few things from the old shop (dremel, soldering iron, fuses, more on that later), and catch up with @kwyjibo and friends. I left my place at about 6:45AM and while a little smokey, 41F was nice. The drive over Berthoud pass was...

Yessir! That's one of the areas that I might need to change. I'm leaning towards a coilover safari conversion from Elephant racing. They spec it with their RSR adjustable sway bar package (I think these are the same as the Tarrett RSR) which I think has much thinner bars. I assume the safari...

Lots going on. I spent some time over the weekend pulling some of the race gear out. I've also put the car on the lift and been inspecting things. The oil leaks from sitting seem to have sealed themselves up. The nose cone of the transmission is leaking - that'll be a pain to fix. The...

Slicktop lol. The only way! There you go trying to get me to spend money again...must resist...easy! I hear the no radio thing all the time. I like having both engine/exhaust and radio. The cage is a pain in every way - great for safety on a track with 5 point harnesses and a helmet...

Someone makes a speaker insert for the dash location that has two small speakers. I did that, then added door speakers in my '72 with a sub and small amp under the passenger seat. The amp has a tuning mode that helps balance the sound between the speakers and I think the sound is alright. I...
