    Yet one more Epoxy-coat garage

I sanded the first coat of epoxy down today with 80 grit to knock down the spots where I had bubbles and the rough up the surface for a better bite with my 2nd coat. I have three questions: 1. I also have a 36 grit pad. I went with the 80 because I thought the 36 might be to aggressive...

    Edco Grinder Experience Anyone?

It's just a matter of having the right equipment for the job. This can substantially reduce the time it takes you to get this floor done! :bounce:

    Edco Grinder Experience Anyone?

Really I didn't think it was very hard work. My garage is only 450 sq ft though. 10 passes took me about 4 hours and that included a couple beer breaks :beer2: For me the most tedious part of the job was dealing with the dust.

    Edco Grinder Experience Anyone?

I rented an EDCO grinder before putting epoxy on my floor. I would highly suggest using the diamond inserts instead of the stones because they cut better. Even with the diamond inserts don't expect to take much off of your floor with this grinder although it does work great for knocking down...

    Epoxy Shield CLEAR Coating

I seen this stuff at Menards. I am thinking about putting this on top of my epoxy when I get done laying it.

    Another Epoxy-Coat Project

Floor looks great. It does look like it has more texture to it than what I was expecting but that's not a bad thing for a garage anyway. Did you have any special technique when applying the flakes? They look well distrubuted.

The bottom picture is a spot where I previously had an oil spill that evidently needed more cleaning. The middle picture is what I was talking about when I said it looked blotchy. Once this dries today I will put on another coat to see how it turns out. If all goes well I will proceed with...

    Another Epoxy-Coat Project

Snorvet, I had the same bubble problem you experienced when I applied tonight. I also agree that the taupe looks grey. I posted some pics in my thread. Hopefully you had luck on the 2nd coat. I need some hope!!!

    Yet one more Epoxy-coat garage

] I finally had a chance to get back to the floor today. After days of floor prep and waiting out the weather for the past week I started to put down the epoxy tonight. I noticed immediately after I rolled or brushed the epoxy onto the floor tiny pinholes were appearing all over the place...

    Another Epoxy-Coat Project

Snorvet, after doing some reading last week I decided to pick up some shorter nap rollers. I picked up a few Pro Classic Mohair blend 1/4 nap rollers from Lowes. They say they are for smooth surfaces and are used for enamels, urethanes and epoxies. Something like this may work better than the...

    Another Epoxy-Coat Project

Let me know if you find anything out on the clear coat. I was thinking about putting a UV resistant clear on top since this floor will see a lot of sun in the afternoon hours when the door is open. From what I gather I thought you would get bubbles (outgassing) only if the epoxy was applied in...

    Another Epoxy-Coat Project

Snorvet, did you put on the 2nd coat today? If so how many hours did you wait between coats? If you have more pics please post them. I'm going to be starting my floor tomorrow. Hopefully the overnight lows of 48 degrees don't give me any problems with the epoxy.

    Another Epoxy-Coat Project

Floor looks good! Where did you end up getting the shotblaster from? How much did it run if you don't my asking?

    Yet one more Epoxy-coat garage

Which kind of scrubber do I want? They have an orbital buffer that has a pad that has stiff bristles and a pad that is like scotch-brite. They didn't want to give me that pad with bristles for concrete for some reason. Will the scotch-brite type pad work or should I still try to get the...

    Yet one more Epoxy-coat garage

Heys guys. I'm just finished doing one last degrease on the floor using TSP (scrubbed by hand and i'm beat). I have 2 small spots that are darker but I don't know that they are from oil. They can possibly be spots from an antifreeze leak I had a while back. Would it be worth my while to rent...
