This is the closest I have to the mystery vise. Not exact but I think very close.

Definitely an older rock island. I think they changed their numbers at some point. @Barker425

This should help you out. A simple Columbian vise catalog circa 1940, has pictures and descriptions of commonly used vises. https://archive.org/details/ColumbianVisesCatalog40A/page/n3/mode/2up

Also here is my stack of little guys like yours to show you how many different makers there were, and I am sure this is just a small portion. The bottom is the only one I am certain is a genuine Boley. No telling on the age of any.

This wo This would be a Boley pattern vise more than likely not an original Boley due to the balls on the handle. Unfortunately it is also missing the anvil that screws into the hole on the back side, it is still a nice little vise and better than the other one you picked up.

You have a great diverse collection. I was wondering if you could identify these two pieces to appease my curiosity. I know the lower is a craftsman just wondering if it is the 5190 or 91? Thanks for sharing 👍

This is an odd vise for sure. Do you know anything about the jaws? I am going to go out on a limb and say that Mr @KMScott had something to do with them 🤔 Also found your date code should be 5/18 may 1918 which puts it right around their swivel patent date not sure if that has anything to do...

I completely understand. Mr Stansbury has done a great job with the work he has put in with vintage machinery, which is my go to for vise reference and history. I did go back on your previous comments and found the blacksmith vise parts breakdown which is really cool. I really like the look of...
