Code question here.
I'm building a new garage. Working on electrical now.
I have many neon lights and beer or advertising lights I want to put on a separate circuit and would like to put that entire circuit on a light switch so I can turn all lights on and off with a single switch. The circuit...
Have an issue with the conduit in my garage foundation that runs to my breaker box.
The conduit run was existing and we placed it a little too far towards the inside of the garage. The conduit will be outside the sheet rock just slightly. The wire is THHN/THWN.
I know everyone on here usually...
Thanks for all the help..
One last question, they are asking me if I want stranded wire or solid wire for the feed that runs from my main panel to the sub panel in detached garage. It will be going through existing 2" conduit for about 30 feet or so.
Thanks
im going to throw another twist on this question.
Maybe this is a better route.
I currently have a two pole 60 amp breaker that was feeding the small building we site cleared. I believe 60 amps will be plenty. I can leave that breaker in place.. If i do that, I already have the 100 amp panel...
Looking for input from the experienced electricians on this one.
Will be supplying the power to my detached garage (new construction) 100 amp sub panel from a 100 amp double pole breaker in my existing 200 amp house panel.
There is 2" electrical conduit existing underground from a previous...
2" conduit.. I will have a 100 amp breaker in my house panel which is a 200 amp panel.
I thought the THHN would be easier to pull, not really concerned much about the cost as like mentioned its not a far run.
Keep it coming.. lol
It will be full 100 amp and will have 6 to 8 circuits along...
Looking for a short list of what all i need to complete my detached garage sub panel installation. This will need to be to the 2014 NEC code as it will be inspected. All wiring inside the garage has been installed other than feed to garage and the sub panel.
The 100 amp sub panel will be about...
we only have the 12/2 running from the fixture to the switch box, roughed in only. have not wired the feed to the switch box yet.
so sounds like i may be okay.
Thanks for all the great replies. Let me put a little more detail in here.
The circuits are all 20amp.. the amount of lighting im using will be fine.
I have actually already wired 12/2 to all the light fixture boxes before I even thought about possibly needing 12/3.
I need to meet code and...
the wattage is minimal, its on a 20 am circuit. The lights are completely different areas (outside lights, overhead garage lights) so they will be controlled by separate switches. at separate times.
We are installing multiple lights within the on one circuit. These lights are in close proximity to each other but will be controlled by different switches..example being, the overhead garage lights and the outside garage lights will be on the same circuit but will be controlled by different...
