    Craftsman 6x48 belt sander build

if I'm seeing and understanding what you're saying correctly, couldn't you just use a shorter belt and it would fix the problem with the interference? If that's not accurate, then maybe another picture showing how the motor would sit might help me to understand.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Got them on clearance at Home Depot a few years ago. They're Bessey. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0057PUEZO/?tag=atomicindus08-20 They're alright. They work for a lot of what I need but the design often means they pop out of the vise if I'm clamping near the edges. For the price I'm not too upset.

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I just wanted to follow up on my part about that little vise. I heated the cast a little and the pins came right out as you all said. Blasted the parts, painted them, cleaned up the rust with evaporust, polished the rest as best I could, coated the pins, spring clip, and screw with dry moly...

    Show your Crown Top Love

I've been meaning to post this for a long time but never seem to have the time. Found this at an estate sale and could not pass it up. I'm very annoyed with myself because I scrubbed some of the logo off trying to clean rust with a scotchbrite. It hangs on the wall in my shop where I can always...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

454, Drives, Outlaw and Dave - thanks so much for the feedback! First, just to know that's how it's assembled is great news because it was all I could figure too. I just didn't want to make things worse if someone else had experience with it, and I suspected someone here would! I hate to say...

Question about small vintage Stanley clamp on vise

I've never looked up a patent before, so I admit I would have never seen that. Thank you so much for telling me! Functionally the vise works fine right now, but I was hoping to clean it up and make it look nice to give it as a Xmas gift. I have a friend I think will really use it, and...

Question about small vintage Stanley clamp on vise

Obviously I'm not doing big work with it, and it's no match for a real vise, but I like the convenience of being able to put it wherever I might need an extra hand. I use it a lot for small soldering jobs by my iron when I'm not using my gator clip extra hand thing. :)...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

That is the only way I can see it working too, but I am assuming the pins were set in the casting before it was cast. No way would I want to try to remove them without hearing from someone who successfully did just that. This continues to puzzle me, so thanks for any and all ideas. Drive, I...

That's all I'm seeing too... I did copy this into the vise thread. Thanks!

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Hello all, it's been awhile since I've had time to be involved on here, but the passion for this stuff does continue. I apologize, I posted this same question here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=436746 But it was suggested I copy it here also. Admins, please delete as you...

Question about small vintage Stanley clamp on vise

Hello all, it's been awhile since I've had time to be involved on here, but the passion for this stuff does continue. :) I have a question if anyone has dealt with this before. I'm restoring a handful of small projects, amongst them is this little Stanley vise. There is a spring retainer clip...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Yeah, that was my thinking as well. I'm trying to salvage anything I can, but much of it went right in the trash. There are some really big pipe taps (1-1/2") and a mess of pipe reamers that turned out pretty darn nice after soak in evaporust. Power and air tools went right in the trash...

What drum switch for my setup?

@Bert Thanks for taking the time to explain that - I have a better understanding of the motor now. I figured it was what you described - a connection that I wasn't aware of, or a different way to look at the same wiring. @Matt_i Your suggestion was another consideration I had! I was wondering...
