    Two stupid questions...

I do not profess to be an authority by any means, but my thoughts are: I usually put the flat side of the washer down because of surface contact. The rounded side down leaves that little bit of a gap for dirt, moisture, etc. to collect the way I look at it. That and when feeling around for...

    PVC Pipe for Shop Vac

I understand why, but how would a person "ground" plastic pipe? I have considered doing somethin similar so I could control dust, etc., without having to deal with the shop vac and hose being under foot.

    Shop Vac Wall box

I have had something similar to mdsmith11's version for a couple years now, the difference being that I used an old metal milk crate instead of a wooden box (mine is a 5 gal. model, so it fits perfectly in the crate). It hangs on two angled (large) screws, so it comes off the wall when needed...

    Cantelevered carport??

You can accomplish a lot with laminated beams these days when it comes to spans (as an alternative to steel beams). With good support and foundation, I don't know why you couldn't do it. Pics of your garage and setup would be a help in understanding your situation.

Garage Windows -- Yes or No?

The main part of my garage has no windows, and between having no natural light, and that "boxed in" feeling, I would never build one without windows. If there were the need, security bars are pretty easy to weld up and install, and there are plenty of other security options available these...

    Why spiders are your friend.....

I cleaned my shop vac today, and upon turning it upside down to blow it out, I discovered over 20 of those little "puff ball" looking egg sacks associated with some variety of spider (sorry, I hate them all and have never researched which variety it might be) in the cavities where the wheels are...

    work bench plans

My garage is small, but had some cabinets when I bought the place. I later added a workshop area an auxillary bench on wall brackets to save floor space, works very well. The cabinet pictured I just built out of leftover materials. Got the doors at a yard sale for $1.00 each, and the hinges...

    Show me your patio.....

This is mine between the house and garage. Little messy in this pic, the leaves were starting to fall. The stone I picked up many years ago out of fields at my dad's farm, that is what he would make me do when he was unhappy with me. So I now take great pleasure in walking on it!
