Ideally I would love to separate the fab table and welding cart but my shop doesn't have a lot of spare room with essentially 2 trucks in there. This is why I would an all in one design. As mentioned previously I could add a "drip" tray to protect them some. Is a there such a thing as a filter...
I keep forgetting to measure my bottle at home. I believe it is a 125CF bottle but cant remember, comes up to above chest height. If it is smaller I dont think it will hang off at all. Also have to get real measurements from my welder as these are what I could find online. It looks like it could...
Yes tabletop is 24x36. Thank you for the insight on wall thickness. I may build the majority of it out of .065" and the support for the sliders/verticles may be bigger "diameter" and/or thicker wall.
Burn marks is a good point however I TIG everything (only welder for now) and I dont picture...
Also what improvements might you make?
The con I see is the welders' adjustments being on the side of the cart if sitting down to weld on the fab table. Not a huge deal, but a bit annoying.
Hey Guys I am looking to make a combo welding cart MIG/TIG with a table top fixture table. I attached a few pics so you guys can see what I am talking about.
What gauge metal would you use? I was thinking 1"x1"x.065" but newer to fabrication and not sure if .065" is too thin. The fab table will...
What are the capabilities of a tube roller (specifically the Harbor Freight one)? I have a couple of pieces or 2" .120" wall steel tubing that I am looking to bend in the below shape. I need this to go around the 8" coil spring and am limited by space between the coil and the red bar...
I wish I could think of those uses right now. It is a really big purchase for a tool I just cant picture myself using all that much, but when I need it, itd be nice.... Still trying to talk myself into it!
It seems like everyone uses JD2 benders. so obviously they have to be pretty decent. I really lean towards going hydraulic as then it does not need to be mounted to the floor.
The Rogue Fab unit seems nice as it bends vertical which is a plus as much shop is smaller/full. Their dies seem...
Hey guys, I am considering buying a tube bender. I need to make crossmembers and may build a roll cage down the road. The two benders above seem like good options from forums I read and are at very similar price points (besides M625) when adding hydraulics and shipping costs. I do not need...
I never thought of using a circular saw for cutting sheet. Just getting into the world of metal. Over the last few years I started teaching myself to TIG. I finally got pretty good at it and now the world of fabrication is open to me. lots to learn though!
Am I understanding you correctly, you are using wood band saw to cut steel but with a metal/bimetal blade?
I have also never heard of a blade shop before, didn't even know this was a thing!
Ideally I want a benchtop model. Probably just because it is what I am familiar with. The portaband...
Wow thanks for all of that info!
I found lightly sanding them with 150 grit on a DA makes quick work of the dross and shines it up nice. I will be selling these. If they end up selling well I will look more into a tumbler at that point. 100-200 dollars isnt a lot of money but I cant justify...
How does the portaband mount? I suppose this would would just not ideal I suppose is all. Another plus to this is it can be removed and used elsewhere.
I am not familiar with portabands, is the blade angled? In other words can you push metal through it without hitting anything or is it limited...
Wow a lot of replies!
I should have been more specific, I am looking for a vertical bandsaw. Horizontal would be useful at times but horizontal would be much better for 90% of the work I am looking to do.
This looks nice but still very expensive! I was hoping to find a vertical metal bandsaw...
I have a small shop for personal use and looking to get a small bandsaw to cut steel and aluminum (=< .250"). I do not see anything in my price range that does metal, only wood. I know I cannot be the only one that wants to cut metal. Am I looking in the wrong sections? seems like a smaller wood...
