    Small Warehouse Cooling

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will pick up one or two portable units and see if they help. If not I can always sell them on again - air conditioning is always in demand in Houston! We use quite a bit of electricity so hopefully any additional use will be lost in the bill! Suddenly...

    Small Warehouse Cooling

I'm looking to spend as little as possible! I can't justify spending thousands on "real" a/c. I'm thinking a few hundred dollars would be worth it, but much more and I will just need to forget it. My understanding of swamp coolers is that they work somewhere dry like Arizona, but they...

    Small Warehouse Cooling

I have a small warehouse attached to my office, and use it for storage. The space is about 20x35 with high ceiling (18ft?). I recently bought an old car and want to work on it when I have some time. This is in Houston, so it gets really hot in there. The space is leased, and I can't...

Current Mr Cool 24k DIY Pricing

I bought an 18k from Costco last October (November maybe) and it does indeed have heat. I'm in Houston, so the heat never really got a workout, but the cooling has been impressive for my 500 sq ft garage (little insulation, double door). Brings the temp down from 90s to mid-70s in short order.

QuickJack portable lift: $150 discount for forum members (expires 2/1/2019)

Does anyone know if these can be used for longer term lifting - my projects never move as quickly as I would like, so the car could be off it's wheels for several months. I assume there is a mechanical locking mechanism?

Cooling (and Heating?) a 22 x 27 Shop in Texas

I'm in Houston, and just finishing up the install of a Mr Cool DIY mini split for my garage. The garage is only about 500 sq ft, but not well insulated. I got quotes of over $3k to install a 12k BTU mini split, but went with the Mr Cool as it has pre-charged lines and therefore doesn't need...

My new Gree mini split install

Do you mind me asking whether the brick is a single course (fascia over wood frame house)? How did you anchor to the brick wall. I am about to mount a condenser to my brick fascia wall and thinking I need to somehow find a way to drill through to the 2x6 studs. I can't find anything online...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Browneye - thanks for the thoughts. I would like to just put the condenser on a pad, but space is tight - house A/C units, water softener, pool filter, heater, pumps etc. are all in the way. The only way to get the condenser on the ground would be to put the indoor unit in an alcove at the...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

I don't think it will make a difference - I ordered from Costco and it was shipped from the same town in KY as Ingrams. Seems unlikely that there are two distributors in the same town! If you want to get tech help you will be better off with an order through Ingrams, I would imagine.

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Thanks for the reply - I think you are absolutely right, can't have water running down the brick - I'm in Houston, so humidity will mean constant flow through the drain line. I plan to put a PVC line down to close to ground level and put a 45deg at the bottom to break the fall onto the ground...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Just received my 18K Mr Cool DIY, looking at the install details now. I want to run the coolant pipes in the attic space of the garage and bring them outside at the rear (where there is some hardie plank instead of brick). I know the drain needs to slope down, and thought about drilling a...

    Husky track system hooks

The Gladiator tracks don't work with the Sears/Husky hooks (and the same for Gladiator hooks on Sears tracks).

    Husky track system hooks

I can confirm that the Sears Versatrack is the same as the Husky system. I have a combination of the hooks and tracks from both in my garage - started buying from Home Depot and when they stopped selling it, I took a small piece of the track into Sears to make sure. Stock of Versatrack at my...

Sears.com hot deals and clearance thread

My local Sears closed a few months ago. I went several times during the closing "sale". In the last week they still had the open stock hand tools at 40% off. The toolboxes were either 50 or 60% off. Best deal I saw were the stainless steel workbench tops, which were maybe 80% off. I...

Sears.com hot deals and clearance thread

Just looking to use some points before they expire I decided to get the boroscope (currently $54.20). Coupon code SEARS5OFF50 worked to drop $5. Haven't managed to find a working generic code like that for a while. Just thought someone else might be looking for a small discount.
