Any ideas how to convert a HF type toolbox to lock-n-roll

Look at the drawer slides/rollers. I put small tabs of plastic glued in just ahead of where they rest when in the closed position On mine with detects, I deepened the detention with a punch to have the rollers rest deeper

Just acquired an Alemite oil dispenser

Now I need to know background details and information. Found this on CL and got it for $15. Appears leak tight, no corrosion inside, pump works. Just needs a new hose and some clean up, maybe a paint job. Can anybody tell me anything about it? Age, what it "should" look like? I'm going...

shopping for a T50 pneumatic stapler

I picked up the PT-50 at OSH for $32. Runs like a champ, uses the same staples as an Arrow T-50 and came with the same quick connect (Industrial) that I use on everything else. Wait for an OSH sale weekend and it will probably go for about $28.

    Convert a 220 breaker into 110?

If it is like most 220 breakers, it is just two 110 breakers hooked together, one to each side of your service. You can make it two 110s by just removing the clip that holds them together.

Old but new to me Air Compressor!

You should be able to find an old tank, or a good sized old propane tank to use as a holding tank. Take the valve off the propane tank, fill it with water and drain it a few times and then just plumb it.

I've lost one of my balls!(vise related)

Thread the end of the bar, fit it with a proper size nut, grind the nut down to a sphere. Tubelcain has a youtube video of this very proceedure.

    Compressor question..

Go to the one in the laundry room, take a run out the back of it, install a plug from it in the garage. You probably won't need to run the compressor and the dryer at the same time. Looking at your photo, you have the electrical panel in the garage, just tap a new circuit our of it!

    2014 Garage sale thread!

Went to a "Moving Sale" on Friday, fellow had a bunch of tools in a five gallon bucket with a sign that read, "fill a tray for 75 cents" next to the bucket was a bunch of those rubbermaid kitchen drawer trays. "Well" says I, "how about I just give you $5 for the whole bucket to save us some...

New business opportunity - The Tupperware-style Tool Sales

Okay, I'm just throwing out an idea that someone will run with and make a fortune, but I don't want this much work in my 60s. How about a Guy's Tool Party Business? Normal guys can't affort Snap On, Matco... tool trucks stopping by the house, but would guys have a garage get together? Buy...

What are you guys using for shop towels ?

Old bath towels, rolled paper towels, blue roll towels, HF red rags, pretty much in that order. I do wash up the dirty ones, there is a laundrymat next to one of my more favorite lunch stops. I push the rags in their machine with plenty or liquid detergent, drop in 75 cents and go have lunch...

4 foot, dual bulb, lights on 8 foot centers would be the most effective way to keep shadows from developing.

keeping a shipping container cool in the summer

I have a 40 foot box, it's painted a dark brown. I can lower the temperature in it about 15 degrees in the summer by spaying it with water and letting the water evaporate. Won't help much when the outside temp is 110F but it will make it usable for short term trips in and out.

Best All In One Tool Set

Younger daughter gave me an "all in one" set by Crescent a couple of years ago from Costco. I used that puppy to pull the engine out of a VW van, repair a couple of outboard motors, all kinds of stuff. After a couple of years of fairly heavy use the plastic case hinges went to heck, so I...

    Vintage Marquette floor jack repair

I can't see why you could not make one out of scrape leather, or even new leather available from a hobby shop or shoe repair. Take the one you have, copy/trace it out on paper and then transfer it to a new piece of leather. Wet the leather and cut it with a box knife or several passes with a...

    Compressor Tank Rust-Thru - Options?

Look into discarded, out of date propane tanks. Now that portable tanks have to be re-certified every five years or so, getting old ones is a breeze. Vent it out, drop in some dry ice to purge it and it will be cheap and serve you well. If you were in the northern California area, I'd give you...
