Densifiers, and Sealers and Combos, Oh My

I plan on filling my control joints with Sikaflex also. I want to say I read somewhere that said to do that before the 4500/8510 work. Does that sound correct? Fill the joints and let them cure first?

Densifiers, and Sealers and Combos, Oh My

I definitely need to find that clearance sale. According to the Ghostshield website, I'll spend right about $2k for 3 of the gallon concentrates of 4500 and 4 five gallon buckets of 8510 for my 3k square feet.

Ugh, that's a lot of dough

Densifiers, and Sealers and Combos, Oh My

This thread is exactly what I was looking for. I'm in a similar boat, although my layout is a little bit different. I've got about 1100 sq ft of smooth garage concrete and 1900 sq feet of broomed driveway concrete. I do some light woodworking and auto work, but other than that it's just for...

    Deciding between wildly different estimates

Well, I think I figured out why the low bidder came in so low. After some back and forth, I don't think he has a license nor is he insured. I asked to see these things and at first got a "ok, i'll send them over." After a day or so and me asking again, he said he was waiting to get all the...

    Deciding between wildly different estimates

That's a great point. The 73k was in a nice suburban that I know for a fact he bought brand new because we talked about it.

    Deciding between wildly different estimates

I've gotten 4 estimates that are wildly different, and I'm trying to figure out how I can choose the best one. I feel comfortable with all 4 of the contractors, so I'm at a loss on how I can decide. The estimates came in at 73k, 60k, 57k, and 44k. I've been pretty specific with what I want...

How do you determine your costs?

I keep telling myself I need to do that, but I obviously keep forgetting. He would be the GC and is subbing out everything. Might want to make it a little bigger so I can fit a bed in there. :) Hehe, not quite. Married for 17 years with 3 kids. This is our third house, but we bought it...

How do you determine your costs?

It's technically not ****. It's things that go in storage: kids' clothes, holiday decorations, boxes of books (my wife is a teacher), etc. So not stuff to throw out, sell, or give away, just things that are infrequently used. What kind of plans do I need to get? I don't know the proper...

How do you determine your costs?

Thanks so much for all the replies and information. Couple more questions and answers for some of you guys. - For those who did work themselves, how did you find suppliers for materials? Google? - I'm in Forsyth county. It's north of Atlanta, but by no means a rural setting. - Waiting on...

How do you determine your costs?

Couple answers to some questions you guys have asked so far. - I'm in Georgia, north of Atlanta. - The quote is for a full second floor. Although now I'm reconsidering this and am leaning towards attic trusses. - Exterior finish is hardiplank siding. - Driveway is roughly 3k square feet. -...

How do you determine your costs?

I just got kicked in the gut today. Met with a contractor to talk about the numbers he came up with, and I was floored. We are looking to build a 38x30, 3 car garage with a second floor for storage. No finishings on the inside, just framing and electrical. Pretty big driveway removal and...

    Dewalt DWS779 out of alignment

The camera on my phone is terrible, but you can see the tiniest gap in there.

    Dewalt DWS779 out of alignment

OK, I think I understand what you guys are talking about. I've been holding the baseboard pretty tight against the fence when making the cuts. If that's the cause, is it adjustable? I'm at work right now, but will check it out when I get home.

    Dewalt DWS779 out of alignment

Yeah I'm pretty sure. I'm trying to cope the ends by starting it with the miter saw. I make the first inside corner cut to expose the profile. Then I swing the saw the other way to cut out the back down to the curve. It's when I do this that I see the angle as I hit it right on the edge at...
