Have you tried pouring tungsten shot into the recoil damper cylinders on the Pardini yet?

I drink waaaay less wine than EdVed and I service my own amps.

Before Tam & I bought the electric Polestar we tried one with the Ohlins and larger wheels - it was unpleasantly harsh. It seemed nutty that you need tools to change settings. On imperfect roads base suspension and more sidewall are ideal. Enjoy the trip!

In ‘96 I saw an American V8 in Rome, but it was a beat-*** hoopty ‘70s Monte Carlo. I could never understand how it got there or why someone would drive it but it was a mangy whale amongst shiny little tetras.

I’m guessing between his van and his F150 Gregor’s done with American vehicles for the foreseeable future.

FWIW I’m pretty sure Gregor found his dream wagon and is doing a fly-and-drive this weekend.

It really is important to take overlapping photos of every mundane square inch of walls, crawlspace, and roof joists just before they’re covered (before insulation, obvs.) When I worked with a design/build outfit I would actually print all the photos in a 3 ring binder with a half-size plan set...

Don't use moisture, I'd even be leery of using heat on an existing finished surface. To stiffen the top I think you'll need to either stiffen with steel or cut a dado on the inside and reinforce with carbon. I have some extra carbon bars for building guitar necks if you'd like to experiment...

Last trip when we were at French Glen the hotel let Gregor use the kitchen to form the dough balls. They were fine refrigerated until next evening when we made pizzas on the Alvord playa.

Thallon also did a good graphic guide to interior details, good primer on finish carpentry. He actually taught at University of Oregon when I was there for my Masters but I didn’t take any classes from him. He probably still teaches there. I’ve had the cad file of Gregor’s house open in a...

There’s no code requirement given we‘re just improving an existing situation. We haven’t discussed it in detail but it’ll probably be about budget and clean detailing. Insulation is great but in the end the house has single pane glazing and air infiltration is just bonkers I’m sure. Anything...

Nailbase above the deck with roofing over that will give a good thermal envelope and will look the same from the inside, largely the same from outside. It’s the right answer. If we insulated below the deck and dropped a ceiling my architecture license would be burned and I’d have to change my name.

No, there is no cavity. the beams are set, then 2x tongue & groove decking, then (theoretically) 3/4” of rigid insulation and roofing atop that. In any event you don’t want to insulate cavities with batt insulation without a ventilated airspace against the deck. Water vapor will get in there...

Yeah, probably nailbase over the existing 2x decking with the edges tapered where the roof cantilevers past the conditioned space. That should mitigate the visual weight of the roof. Also the low end of the roof has no slope whatsoever, so we need to make some taper to the insulation there.

The first big project will be the roof. Insulating, waterproofing, replacing skylights, while maintaining the original character of the house.
