This was my experience with trying to remove the yellow junk yard paint pen markings from an underhood part on my car:
Superclean? No.
Lacquer thinner? No.
Xylene (same stuff as Goof Off but a lot cheaper)? No.
Acetone? YES!!!
I was amazed it wouldn't come off with Xylene which takes off...
Thanks reptilezs. I think you are right about the lead because I did try to remove the very bottom with a small screwdriver and that metal is extremely soft...not at all like regular metal. So when you said lead it made total sense.
