Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

dflier2, I've the tractor about 10 years. It is one of the best things I ever purchased! It has done some much work. I cleared the sides of my "private road", all different types drainage work, spread/graded gravel and sand, pull/install my boat docks every year, helped build multiple stone...

Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

bczygan, I own the road in front of the garage ( my lot is approx 8.6 acres). My goal is to decide what I want to do/ plan of attack before I get anyone at townhall involved. Like the wall, my friend does stone work for a living. Another friend of a friend does concrete work in town...

Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

Xtremek , right now the running idea is "mafia" cement blocks or the free recycled railroad ties I'm supposed to get Monday/Tuesday. Still my biggest concern is the best way to tackle the failing wall. (between corners C and D in previous sketch). I have a friend that builds stone walls. Not...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT A trip back from the edge.

Wow Xtremek I just sat down with my morning coffee and read this thread! When I got to the end I went back and looked at some of the before/in progress pics! All I can say is great job!! Thanks for posting your ideas on re-purposing things. I consider myself handy but many times I struggle with...

Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

Here is one my field sketches. I labeled the corners (A,B,C....etc.) for reference when making notes. Corner "D" is the problem one. In the previous pictures I am digging back the hill between "B" and "C".

Techie. I'm watching your thread as well :) I plan on just framing the inside anywhere I want to hang stuff. If it is just an outlet might just run conduit and mount on wood block. I have a lot of work to do before I'm caught up to you though :)

Thanks...Input is always welcome. Nothing worse than do something then having someone says "Looks good but I would have done it this way". Their way was 10 times easier and/or quicker :)

Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

Ok after a fun repair on the backhoe I was back in business. I cut a couple more trees and dug out the stumps. They didn't want to let go of the hill:eek2: Now I'm able to drive up behind the garage. I'm trying to take my time so I don't damage anything.

Above 1200 Sq/FT Barn Workshop build

Wow looking good. Sometimes I think I should just do this instead of trying to rebuild the one one!!

Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

I looked at the railroad ties and they look pretty good. Some are 20 feet long! My neighbor and I are planning on getting some. Even if I don't use them behind the garage. I have 8 acres so I will use them somewhere else. I'm also considering using a row of "mafia" blocks behind the garage. They...

Hoping to rebuild old Field stone Garage

The cable wire is about 20 off the floor. I sketched out some quick roof lines. I haven't double checked my math yet. The stone foundation is approx 7' high. If I put a 2' knee wall on top and go with a 7/12 pitch that brings the peak to approx 15' . A 9/12 pitch (similar to the house) would be...
