    Ceiling fan for tall shop

I didn’t see this anywhere, but you can get attic exhaust fans, at each end of the shop to exhaust the heat, then a couple inexpensive ceiling fans. You can set the exhaust fans on a thermostat, and the heat at ceiling height will be much less.

    Ideal Workbench Height

I’m 5’8, for standing I have a rolling workbench, drill press , grinder, powder coat stand at 42”. I work here standing. For sit down work I have one solid and also use plastic tables at 36”. Those are pretty standard, but sit as you would work, and stand as you would be working.

    Mild Climate...No A/C...Fans?

Ceiling fans really move the air. I picked up a couple metal blade industrial multi speed fans, and they work much better than I ever thought. Even if they are up high, they really circulate the air. I'm near CDA Id, so similar summer weather, a little colder in the winter.

Leaking window in pole building, wanting to insulate

Every installation I have seen shows the flanged window mounted between the wooden window frame and metal siding. Once the spray foam insulation and interior framing is installed, how could you ever replace the window?

Leaking window in pole building, wanting to insulate

I removed the only window in my pole building ( metal over 2x6's flush girts no plywood) that the PO had installed with j trim, no window framing, just screwed into the 2x6's. No sealer, and on the weather side of the building. We get lots of snow and rain. I was thinking if I reinstall the...

    Anyone with a 25x35 garage?

You can NEVER have enough garage space. Just keeping vehicles and equipment out of the weather, is worth it. Go as big as you can now, in a few years, you will need more room. I extended my 48'x24' by adding another 24'x24' extension, and I wish I went bigger now.

    Pole Barn Insulation

You are worth spending the $$ on yourself and your own comfort. You will not regret spray foaming the whole inside. Or save all your money, and when you pass on, your kids will spend it for you.

Thoughts on how to get engineless cars up a sloped driveway into the garage

Like posted above use a truck, a tractor, not your back! You must know someone with a jeep or 4x or?? Low gear, push it slow, done in minutes and no one gets hurt, or even sore muscles

Woodworkers, Looking for a Chistle set

Thanks for all the response, lots of info to read up on. The set I'm using now is from Craftsman, probably 25 years old, clear and blue Excelite handles with metal striking plates. They have held up very well over the years of abuse. I have a couple Double but Axes, made of Sweedish Steel...

Woodworkers, Looking for a Chistle set

That's nice, but not a really expensive professional set. I like the feel of hardwood handles. I don't know a thing about name brands, my Craftsman set ( set of 4 from 1/4-1") works well, but they are Excellite or similar plastic. Are there any to absolutely stay away from? Thanks for info in...

concrete pad for installing a 2 post lift

That is what I was thinking also, but realistically I will be framing, insulating etc the inside of the shop, and a few other projects, so I wont be able to even think about purchasing a lift for another year.

concrete pad for installing a 2 post lift

I am about a week away from FINALLY starting on the concrete floor in the shop. Approx how large of an area should be dug out 6-8"s thick for the posts on a 2 post lift? I am pouring a 24'x24' extension in the shop. I was thinking about 3' squares should be enough, but should I just make 10'...

heating a 300sf insulated sealed room

I finished off building a 11x24' tool room, workshop inside my big shop. While building it during the winter, I used a Mr Buddy heater to keep warm, but with moisture issues I hear about I want to find a DRY kind of heat for this winter. The walls are 6" thick open cell foam, and ceiling is 8"...
