Thank you for the very impressive work on documenting these drill presses! I just purchased a 113.24590 over the weekend and it needs quite a bit of cleaning up and a few parts most likely need replacing.
The part I am most interested in is the quill return spring (part # 38989). I noticed...
Just bought a pail from Advance Auto for $94 with the discount code, LABORDAY. Even without the discount code it was $109 which is still a good deal as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully there is an Advance Auto in your area, they go by Carquest too I believe.
Thank you!! I was figuring it was better at cleaning but just wanted to confirm. Much appreciated.
I'm thinking CRC may produce Carquest brake cleaners as well. When I looked up the MSDS they were on CRC letterhead.
I located that and thank you all the same. I'm just trying to figure out which one is better for general use when it comes to brake cleaner formulations. Unfortunately that link does not provide specifics with regard to brake cleaners.
Recently purchased a refillable sprayer and am looking at buying a 5 gallon pail of brake cleaner.
Best price I've found appears to be at Advance Auto Parts and I thought they only had one type available but it turns out they have 3 different types and I honestly do not know the difference...
Thank you for all the replies! I'm definitely hesitant to use Loctite of any color for obvious reasons but if I were to use it I would only consider blue since it can be undone.
I never thought about the white Teflon thread sealer. Would you recommend the tape or the paste like formula? I...
65ranchero, nadogall,
Thank you for the replies! I wasn't sure as to whether or not to try blue loctite on the threads, at least with blue it can be undone at a future point of course if I mistakenly use red the damn thing better not leak as it is not coming apart again (other than with a hot...
Thank you for the reply. I did not explain myself very well. The leak is between the gland nut and the cylinder where some type of adhesive is definitely needed other than initial manufacturing. If the leak was between the gland nut and ram I would agree that it is the seal.
I recently rebuilt my Snap-on YA642 floor jack and I still have a very minor leak right around the gland nut. This is the 2nd time I've disassembled and reassembled it but I still cannot solve this one, annoying leak.
I used the sealant recommend by Lazzar's that is a weatherstrip adhesive...
