My first time doing vinyl siding and I was copying how it was done on the house, and from I see the J channel goes up then the finish strip goes inside it to hold the top layer, I also have the punch to punch the tabs out. I have seen youtube videos of it done that way as well, is it not correct?

Thanks, kind of what I was thinking too with the drip edge. I also could loosen the screws on each roof panel and lower them a bit, lots of work but probably the best way to do it. How far do you think the roof panel should overhang? Either way with the roof overhanging or with a drip edge...
