    New build, need some input

For the heat, I'd use an infared heater like the Roberts Gordon Caribe garage heater. The benefit is instant heat. Door opens, wind blows sub zero air in, door closes and it's instantly toasty warm. You can leave it off and have instant heat when you need it. bkh

What do you think of these garage plans?

I agree with 83diesel. In my town, they have a "15' height restriction" and when I started working through permiting, I found they meant 15' roof line resulting in a break in the wall. Mine is under construction now, but it has a 11'5" first floor and 8' second floor with two dormers and still...

Air compressor shed / sound insulating walls?

Some ideas. Look for used acoustic ceiling wall tiles and use them to line walls, they have better sound insulation qualities than fiberglass insulation. The more you use between the studs, the better off you'll be. There were 100 for 100 dollars in my local paper the other day. Cover the...

    Hanging Pendant Outlets

TDKKART - Thanks for the part numbers. I'm looking for 220v and 110v outlets, not really cord reels. I'll put them at about 6'4", just above my head. I am looking for the most effective way - electricians advice appreciated. Thanks again. bkh

    Insulation of apron

Ju539 - The walls are already framed and sitting on the apron. Sneezer41 - Thanks for the confirmation. I would really like hydronic heat, but not thrilled with the cost of quality material. Did you do it yourself, cost per sqft? reliability? vendor? boiler vs water heater? I like the...

    Insulation of apron

I have a dilema. I am in the process of having a 23x44 shop built (two stories, 650sqft up for office, theater, apartment... later) in Salt Lake City. The 8" thick stemwalls have been poured 6' deep and the framing is just about complete. The builder didn't poor the floor, he wanted to frame...

    New build, need some input

Don't discount the extra wall height you may gain from the stem wall. I planned on 9' walls on a stem wall that was raised 6" from the floor height (9.5' planned). What I'm ending up with is a finished floor height that sits 2.5' below the top of the stem wall (11.5' actual) bkh
