I debated buying a couple to keep on hand for gifts like you mentioned but forgot to stop and grab them on my way out. If it was a local store I would be going back for them.
I did look in the PCA and inventory shows 0 solo uppers. There's a chance that they could have another bottom somewhere in the store but I think their inventory is just really screwed up. I could only get them to scan 1 of the 3 upper boxes so I'll never know. The system only shows 2 sets in...
In my store the cat would not be sold separately. It is clearly part of a package deal with the grill although there are more grills than cats. I'm certain they have additional cats stored in various locations throughout the store that will be paired with the purchase of the grills that appear...
I had to argue with 2 employees for 30 minutes to even get them to check. They finally decided it was easier to scan one of them than to keep arguing. Unfortunately it was a barcode for the set at $698.
I still insisted that there were more tops than bottoms but they wouldn't sell just a top...
I believe I spotted a couple Milwaukee top boxes- mostly because the have an inventory note on them from November- and there are 2 tops on the skid with 1 lower. The other skids have an upper and a lower so the count is one more top than bottom.
The store was closing so I didn't want to start...
Now that leveling and anchoring has come up I agree it is something I need to do. I'm not going to do it just yet. This is mostly because I plan to install insulation and sheeting in the near future and want to be able to move the compressor for that. I will plan to permanently secure it...
That sounds like very good advice, and much better than what I had in mind. I was simply going to bolt rubber pads on.
My biggest concern is trying to set the compressor back on the bolts. This thing is a beast to even move, much less sit down on bolts.
