OK here is what we did. Goodman 2.5 ton single speed. Kept the duct work. It was undisturbed in the attic and 98 percent of the plastic wrapping was intact on top of the insulation. Unit is mostly only used at night. Company was well recommended and was in and out in a day. I am pleased with...
Pretty sure it is metal. It is in good shape with only a couple of places where insulation is even showing. I could easily tape those up. Ducts have not been disturbed and air flow was good with the old unit. Thanks very much for all the info.
One of our estimators wants to install new duct work. The other did not mention it. The one who wants to said that the cover over the duct insulation is deteriorating. In a few places it is, but my thought was to wait till it is finished and then go up there with insulation and tape. I cannot...
My Trane "Executive High Efficiency " AC has crapped out after only 40 years. It is a 2.5 ton unit that has cooled the upstairs of our house since the place was built in 1985 (I am third owner) So far we have quotes on Goodman and Rheem units (model numbers to follow) but there are so many...
From my reading about these it appears that it is very important to place the INTAKE (small 1 inch line) as well as the exhaust line (the other 1 incher) both routed to the outside. The larger intake and heat line that go straight through the heater remain inside. This recycles the heated...
My little workshop is easily 75 feet from the house. I put a USB dongle into the back of a pringles can (look up "cantenna" ) and mounted it in a window with the open end toward the house. It hits the router just fine with an excellent signal. I use it for internet and You Tube with no problem.
Suggest framing a small roofed closet outside the shed for the compressor. The damn thing will deafen you if it is inside the workshop with you. An outside box will make the place much more comfortable to work in and just as easy to wire up. Just a thought.
My compressor is a cheapo HF 24 gallon vertical. It was doing EXACTLY the same thing turning off before it got pressure up. A minutes wait and pressing the reset button got it started again.
I replaced caps, same. No change. I was considering the dump since as old as it is it doesn't owe...
Just FYI guys (and no I still have no stock) the no longer new but well thought of Easy Flux 125 is on sale beginning 08/16 for $129. That is pretty decent and less than I paid for mine. They probably hope you will buy the small cart and basic auto dimming mask with it, also both on sale.
Thanks for all the replies and a couple of things on followup. The house about 38 years old and has decent insulation for its age. A previous owner added a lot including some good glass on the afternoon sun side. It is far more efficient than our previous house. Reason for full replacement...
Since I am completely ignorant on this topic I feel I should ask the experts. I live in a standard 5 over 4 two story house in the South. Our ground floor AC has quit cooling. We have a separate unit for the upstairs which is working well. Downstairs is About 1500 square feet to cool...
It isn't an open shed .. actually an outbuilding and entirely enclosed. My one hose unit would keep up "sort of" on a mild day but not for anything else. No insulation at present. The window unit will cool it off on all but the very hottest days and make it bearable on those.
