that looks like the post that stops the lift from spinning around and has the safety catch towards the bottom. There would be nothing holding it in the pipe but it's probably rusted and stuck.
I've got one of the round cabinets, came out of a Lincoln Mercury dealership about 40 years ago. I did have two of them, but loaned one to a now ex brother-in-law and never saw it again.
The safety leg might be rusted and/or stuck in its tube. Easy way to tell is just remove the bolt that attaches to the lift platform and see if the lift will go up. If it does then you have to figure out how to get the safety leg out so you can clean it up. When I worked at a dealership back in...
Actually in the plans he suggested just going to a shop that worked on diesels and asking if they had any used pistons. I did that and they told me I could have as many as I wanted to dig out of the scrap metal bin.
I built this one so yes, you can. Detroit diesel pistons and cold rolled steel. But the company I bought the plans from has been out of business for years.
I have a pair of taillights off an early '70s Datsun pickup that I've saved for 40 years because I thought they'd make good trailer lights. Building a car trailer, finally used them!
Las time I swapped tanks they told me it depends on the size of the tank, over a certain cubic foot can't go in a car. Of course I don't remember the size. This was in Iowa. Maybe different states have different laws.
Uphill to my shop. I put four anchors in the floor so I can bolt a hitch receiver to the floor. The kind that just bolts to the bottom of a bumper. Slide my receiver mount winch into it and pull away. When I don't need it unscrew four bolts and the floor is clear. And yea, you really don't need...
Model 113.229690. Anybody had any experience with one of these? There are two for sale in my area and I'm going to go look at one later this week. Not finding much information on line. thanks
thanks for the replies. My shop is a converted corn crib so the center section that is the work area for the cars isn't really wide enough for an aboveground lift, the posts would pretty much block needed access to the car. The lift has a leak in the air line but no loss of oil. I'll talk to the...
I have the chance to get a used single post in ground hoist. My question is exactly what does it take to get this thing out of the ground. I would have to pay somebody to remove it since I don't have the time and my back doesn't like heavy labor anymore. How much of the floor do you have to tear...
