    Recommend a book on framing?

This is the one I have and it is the best I have seen, used it for to referance while building several sheds, home additions, and my garage. Outstanding book and it covers everything from digging the site planning, foundation, wall framing, roof and finishing the interior...

How to tear down a chicken house?

Start at the top with a ladder tall enough that you are standing through the roof. Divide the building up and work on about 30 feet at the time. Work your way to the ground, purlins, then rafters, then the walls. About all you need is a couple of sledges, and some kids in the neighborhood to...

Tool Inventory Documentation - Insurance Purposes

This is a good idea regardless, It will help you keep up with the stuff you have and determine what you still need. I have started to put an inventory together in MS Access. It allows you to build the database the way you want it and you can also download a template to get you started. If you...

    general framing question

Yes, it is definitely a big project to do something like that by yourself. But when it is done and done right and you can say you did it yourself that is something to be proud of and not take for granted. Check out grizzleys den in the garage gallery. This took me from the first week of Feb to...

    New home away from home

I am a contractor for General Dynamics. Yes it puts a serious damper on the projects. One good thing though I know have the time to research all the projects and plans I have to work on when I get home. It is a vicious circle come over here to make money for projects you can't work on because...

    Looking For Easy Plans

I bolted my bench top drill press to a steel roll around cart similiar to what mechanics use when working, it also holds my chop saw as needed. The rim and pipe trick for the grinder is hard to beat for ease of fab and mobility.

    Would like some opinions please....

Go with the old building. Usually they are built better unless you plan on doing most of the labor to ensure the new one is done right. By the time I get done with my shop I will have close to about what we paid for the house and land ******* in it. Although that is only 35k still that is a lot...

I could do what ever I wanted inisde as long as the outside looked old and like that. Great to have a wife like that ain't it. No, she...
