Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

Thanks! I was planning on laying down a course of blocks just outside that wall. Now, today as I was cutting the holes a thought popped into my head. Maybe I should cut out a 12" strip the full width of the slab just outside the wall, remove the 12" strip, and fill the gap with crushed rock...

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

One thing I've learned so far....don't worry about cutting the concrete! I was stressing out a little over it, but it was way easier than I could have imagined. The only time I've cut concrete, it was 1.5" thick hearthstones with a circ saw and it wasn't fun. As far as cost, having the...

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

Couple of reasons for that. The building is 60' long while the concrete is 80' long. To build completely off the concrete I would need to go about 36'x84' (slab is actually about 33' wide) and that is out of my budget. To go 36'x60' I would still have to cut holes on one end. If I need to cut...

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

Wow. After a minor setback (recoil rope breaking on the 2nd pull) I literally had all 20 holes cut in 2 hrs. Way easier than I thought it would be. The builder will start setting poles as early as Tuesday!

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

The saw I'm renting is a Husqvarna FS309. 14" diamond blade, 9 hp, built in water tank. Cuts down to 4 5/8" so it should make it thru the slab. The price difference vs the 14" Stihl handheld was negligible, so I figured it would save my back. Hopefully it isn't too cumbersome.

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

Thanks for the advice. Does the saw cut significantly slower when you cut completely through the slab vs cutting down a couple of inches?

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

Thanks. After talking with some guys at work today, I've pretty much concluded the same thing most of you guys suggested. I'm renting the 8hp Husqvarna walk behind saw, and will borrow the jackhammer. There will be some trial and error for the first few squares, but I'm thinking I'll score...

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

I got the slab cleaned off and prepped this summer. The builder will be here Friday morning to mark the concrete so I can cut out for the posts and he will start setting them next week. I will need to make twenty 2'x2' cutouts. He says he has a jackhammer he will let me use for free, but I'm...

Building a pole shed over an existing concrete slab???

I'm going to have a cold storage pole building built this spring/summer. Our property has an existing 32'x80' concrete slab that once had a quanset sitting on it that burned down some years before we bought the place. The slab is not in great condition...it is cracked and heaved somewhat, but...

    Double wall chimney pipe question

It's got the collar that connects the stovepipe to the fireplace. The pipe that is included is branded Heatilator and P/N is SL336. This is the stovepipe that Heatilator specifies in the installation manual. It came with (2) of these 3' sections. My chimney will be a straight shot up thru...

    Double wall chimney pipe question

Thanks How about the connection at the fireplace? Since it is a Heatilator fireplace, would that mean that the stovepipe I have is Heatilator and I would need a Heatilator chimney cap, firestop etc.?

    Double wall chimney pipe question

I bought a Heatilator wood burning fireplace off from a guy on craigslist last night. Amongst other things, it came with two 36" double wall chimney sections. He kept the chimney cap, flashing, and last section of chimney pipe since he doesn't want to repair the hole that would be left in his...
