Hey everyone..Happy Summer! We're finally thinking of actually building a barn/garage? limited funds but would be nice to accomodate 4-6 and maybe a 2nd floor & a lift. lot is 200x600 or 700- 3.1 acres. Blue lines are a french drain 2' deep & red are septic/leach. house setback is 280'.
previously mentioned in post 16;
The insulation goes down 24" on the north and west sides and 16" on the south and east (as measured from where the top of the slab will be).
Yes I agree with fixing drainage first. not sure on your specific yard/garage layout w/out more pics but maybe cut and fabricate a 4"-6" drain across front of garage and carry it down to the rear of garage outside and maybe to a dry well? garage seems to small to work in, let alone a lift...
Wow, your buildings are sweet. Sanddan is yours poles or concrete? I'd be puttin mine where my 27' round pool sits which I cratered out 8" then sand when I did it. That area also seems 1'-1.5' low too...I used sonotube piers when I did my deck thinking concrete is King. I definitely want the...
yea I guess that would be true, prolly a min. of 7-8' for headrrom on both levels making for a 16' building before trusses? I suppose this type of attributes would dictate a gambrel style barn? and a gambrel is more expensive to build isn't it.
Hey all, props on your builds! I'm in upstate NY and need more space for a couple cars/trucks someday a lift I hope. Also a loft of some sorts for all the house **** I have above my current attched 24x32 garage. I don't have much cash but was thinking size wise of a 30x40 since 35' long would...
Will need to hear the more knowledgeable chime in, since I don't know?
I had used HD topcoat in a couple small areas due to salt/pitting 10+ yrs.ago which has held up fine but the other 90% has degraded..Got a great/thick floor but I never had it sealed or anything when we built 25yrs ago. I may...
I think what he means is having your existing floor either shot-blasted or spiral ground which are 2 different methods of preparing it for an upgrade. And if you choose to have it spiral ground, then you would/could just apply an epoxy sealer and a finished top coat paint/stain. By doing it this...
Hi, I suppose pole barns are the most economical to erect? Are they as good as a regular garage? Ideally a 30'x40' seems it would be ideal. Thinking 3-4 cars with a few feet for stuff. It would be even better to have the ability to add a loft space for home furnishings & stuff storage too! I'm...
