Radiant heating may not be worth the money.

That is the point of this thread. To help/inform others. I have quotes on pre built radiant systems before I installed even one foot of pex. Radiant heating is not popular for residential in the slightest where I live, and getting quotes from local “professionals” proved to be difficult. With...

Radiant heating may not be worth the money.

I live in Herriman Utah. Once again the cost to prep the floor for radiant heat was 3k$. That includes a pex stapler, pex, pex 90’s and 4x8 Rigid insulation. The garage is 13’-14’ in height and 25’ wide by 60’ long. It’s insulated with R19 in the 2x6 walls and R38 in ceiling. Reason for...

Radiant heating may not be worth the money.

Up stairs is heated by it’s own mini split setup. I am considering just running two tankless water heaters. 1 for the apartment, 1 for the pex. I have no idea what pumps, valves etc. are needed for radiant heating.

Radiant heating may not be worth the money.

I’ve been building my garage for a few years now. Doing a good amount of the work myself. On this forum everyone said install pex now or you’ll wish you had. I put insulation down, ran 5 loops of Pex, it wasn’t difficult but really time consuming and about 3000$ in material. Now I am getting...

400 Amp Meter main ring type vs ringless

I’ve called Codale, CED, CED, ROYAL. Local supply stores. Average price was 1700$ The calculations are over 200 amps, I know I won’t use near that power, but I have no other option. While I understand 1500$ seems like a fair price for 400 AMPs, and if there wasn’t other ring less options at...

400 Amp Meter main ring type vs ringless

I’ve looked at everyone of those part #’s. They’re either no longer available or 1500$+.

It’s Rocky Mountain power/Pacific Corp. I’ve spoke to them a few times and also have their handbook.

400 Amp Meter main ring type vs ringless

The 1 from platt is 1600$ is the issue. The ring less one I posted is 510$, it’s hard to put up 1100$ more for almost the exact same thing except the way the meter is secured into the panel.

400 Amp Meter main ring type vs ringless

Service type is underground. Otherwise the milibank 320 Amp overhead would work, which I considered that idea. Garage is a 200 Amp sub panel, I don’t need 200Amps, but it’s powering a hot tub, HVAC unit, and a small kitchen. Garage is 1500 SQ FT with a 1000’ of living space above. I do not...

400 Amp Meter main ring type vs ringless

I need some input from residential electricians. I installed a 200 Amp sub panel to feed my new garage. My house is currently fed by a 200 Amp meter Main. I was planning on installing a 400 Amp meter main like this...
