Compressor is leaking a little air - what to look for?

Just my 2 cents. Not sure what you used as a sealant, but I had same problem when I reworked my 25 gallon several years ago. I used some off brand pipe compound and had a few leaks. I reworked the whole thing using Rector Seal #5 thread compound, let it sit for 24 hours, and it's been solid ever...

Need a miter saw recommendation please

I would like to offer my experience. I own a Ryobi 12" and have been happy with it for the $100 I paid 7 years ago. I am still on the original brushes. I've cut a ton of stuff with it (including metal) and it gives some very professional results. But, If I ever bought again I would look for...

    Which socket set ?

Go with Craftsman. You can get some sets for really cheap around Christmas and they've never let me down - neither Sears nor the tool.

Stand Up if You're a Craftsman Diehard (Not the Battery...)

I'll stand up here. I used my dad's Craftsman set starting back in '82 when I rebuilt my first car and never had any issues. Bought my own setup in '92 and been adding to it ever since. One of my friends is a professional diesel mechanic and has a hard-on for Snap-On, but he pays 2-3X what I pay...

    Recall on Ryobi battery charger

Announcement says they're recalling through December 2009, but the actual affected date codes are 0731-0852 (31st week 2007-52nd week 2008). I have an 0952 date code that Ryobi said WAS NOT under recall. Thanks for the heads up.

Derusting Question - Vinegar / Salt

+1 on this. I've done this to old carbon steel golf clubs (wedges) and it works like a charm. I used acidic AC coil cleaner instead of battery acid and a wire brush wheel. It takes a while to beat off your new oil can finish.

Is this a good buy on an air compressor and tools?

My renter has a large vertical Husky that was used for 1-2 years that is non-operational. I'm pretty sure it is related to the high pressure cutoff switch. Apparently the Husky service line can't offer a realistic solution for his situation so it's just taking up space. I'm pretty sure it's...

Arcan XL35 for $139 Won Over NAPA 7916420

Greetings Garage Journal readers. I just bought an Arcan XL35 3.5 ton at Northern Tool today for $139. They had the online price reduced, and my local store honored it. That's what it took to finally decide between the Arcan and the NAPA 7916420 3.5 ton. Didn't think I'd ever decide between the...
