    Finding an electrician

I sent you a PM with contact info for a great electrical contractor in the Rockford area.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I welded up a quick pair of brackets made out of unistrut to mount my air dryer and filters. Don't look too closely at the welds, I never claimed to be a pro.

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

I just picked this up off of craigslist. The guy had $200 on it, but I gave him $300 to deliver it to me. Its a Saylor-Beall 705 pump with what I think is a 5hp motor that should push about 23CFM. Its so dirty I can't even read the model number, but I can probably clean it up somewhat. I got it...

    Barn Light Parts

I'm with Norcal, I hate when I see these fixtures on ebay for $200 fit up with some cop-out parts out of the plumbing aisle instead of electrical fittings. There are several suppliers for these types of bases that connect to flush mounted electrical boxes. Try ark lighting or baselight.

"Green" Companies working w/LA DWP & changing T-12's to T-8's

If you look on your bill, there is a line item that reads something like "watt reduction program" that is where the money comes from. I would not doubt that some of the rebate is subsidized from the state or federal government, but i have never heard that from anyone that knew the facts.

"Green" Companies working w/LA DWP & changing T-12's to T-8's

I have done these retrofit jobs, and i now sell electrical supplies. I can say that most of the time doing these kinds of upgrades is well worth it. In my area its all about watt reduction, you get rebated up to .90 per watt saved in some situations. The most important thing is to get the same...

    2' x 2' Troffers in Basement Shop

Parabolics were intended for offices to cut down on the reflection of the lights off of the CRT computer monitors. They have no place is a shop or anywhere else in my opinion. The grid will block up to 20% of the light from getting to where it needs to go. You can't go wrong with a traditional...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

Gregor, have you ever heard from your helper since he was deported or whatever? I would bet he would be just as impressed with your almost finished product as the rest of us.

    Powered welding cart

You could use a P&S L5130 plug and receptacle with a piece of 10/5 sjo hard wired to a jbox on your welding cart with your welder receptacle in a garvin cover. Put a short pipe ****** with another jbox with a double duplex garvin cover with receptacles for the grinders. Wire it so you have the...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

Tomorrow I need to figure out the heated floor which didn't get a thermostat wire to it... When I put in the mat the girl at the distributer said I didn't have to chose a controller right away - which was true if you didn't get a controller with a thermostat. I'll come up with something...

    Another Radio Arm Saw

I hate when people say licenses. When you ask if they got their license yet, they say "no, havent got 'em." drives me bonkers!

    Barn Lettering

This is an old brewery in a small town in wisconsin. I have dreamed about buying it and starting a craft brewery there. Sadly i have to live in the real world where one has to work for a living. Pictures do not do it justice.

Do our garages really belong to us ?

I get the basement And the garage. She gets everything else. Her mother is also a baskaholic, its seriously like an addiction for her. She tries to push it onto my wife all of the time. I have explained to my wife that its like the beanie baby effect. 15 years ago people would practically blow...

I have a vintage adjustco articulating lamp i got off a guy for $20 and a porcelain keyless in its place. I will try to remember to take a picture of it tomorrow. I also have a green porcelain appleton barn light with a 200 watt incandescent lamp in it above my workbench.
