Hey, I did the room in the attic trusses and I did put the access to the upstairs outside - i.e. stairs on the outside of the garage and not inside. I have everything framed in and the upstairs will simply be storage. I guess I didn't want to take the room for the stairs out of the space down...

HI Came upon this site and looking forward to gathering ideas from everyone. I am in the process of finishing the interior on my 26' X 52' garage. I added "room in the attic" trusses to create an upstairs space of about 11' X 52' - love the storage space. The interior is basically 2"X6"...
