Go get a boroscope camera if you don't already have one

I think it's rigid enough to thread through a sewer pipe. As to whether or not it can navigate a 90-degree bend, I suspect it would depend on how smooth the bend is and the radius of the bend. They're available in different lengths.

Go get a boroscope camera if you don't already have one

There are a ton of very similar low-cost borescopes/endoscopes that I'm guessing would yield the same or comparable quality images. One reason I bought from Vevor is that they had a link to the user manual, which admittedly was far from perfect, but at least I was able to figure out what it was...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I agree. My shop wiring is all inside the wall cavities, which admittedly makes it harder to upgrade than surface wiring. I originally did that because I was planning to install a bunch of permanent shelving on the walls, most of which never materialized. However, it wouldn't be too hard to add...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

As mentioned in an earlier post, I made a custom puller to remove a rear hub on my Toro Wheel Horse 522xi garden tractor and replace the oil seal. Here's the first version of the puller, which worked fine: However, I'm planning to convert the hubs on both of my garden tractors from lug...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

When I rewired our old two-car garage (now my workshop), I installed a new subpanel with: Five 20A 120V breakers for interior receptacles (total of 20 duplex receptacles). One 20A 120V breaker for one outdoor receptacle. One 30A 240V breaker (for two receptacles). One 50A 240V breaker (for one...

Go get a boroscope camera if you don't already have one

I have an old straight-tube optical borescope that I bought at a military surplus auction about 30 years ago. It works fine, but there's no camera, and you can't bend the tube, so it often won't go where you want it to go. I recently bought a very low-cost borescope from Vevor that plugs into...

Help Identify tool that has stumped thousands

@Toolkid91, if you haven't already contacted them, you might want to try the Davistown Museum. They have a wealth of knowledge about antique tools, especially 18th- and 19th-century tools. https://davistown.mainememory.net/page/2893/display.html

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

A few small garage/shop jobs over the past several days: First, some simple mouse damage repair work: The leads for the cruise control electromagnet on my Toro 522xi garden tractor showed distinct signs of having served as a meal or nest material for a mouse or other furry critter. All but one...

Maybe the ignition voltage was high enough to jump the gap and still provide a hot enough spark?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Even though I don't like the repetitive nature of drywall work, there is a kind of 'Zen' to it for lack of a better term. There's something highly satisfying about almost magically transforming bare framing to a finished, completed appearance in a short period of time...and there's that sense of...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

This started out to be a simple repair which, as usual, I made more complicated. The battery indicator light bulb (idiot light) on my old (but recently acquired) New Holland GT18/20 garden tractor was missing, and after installing a bulb, I found that the battery light was always ON, even...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I’m almost done refurbishing my 2001 New Holland GT18 garden tractor. Here’s what I’ve done on it so far (mostly in my garage/shop): Repaired the steering gear box. Replaced the original steering tie-rod ends with heavy-duty greaseable Heim joints with dust boots. Sanded out areas of light...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Just a small job today, but I fixed something that was bugging me. The plastic instrument panel cover/lens of my GT18 garden tractor was a bit yellowed and cloudy to say the least. Here's how it looked before cleaning: After about 30 minutes of rubbing compound, polish, wax--and some elbow...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Continuing work on my New Holland GT18 garden tractor (basically the same as a Toro 518xi). On these tractors, the plastic fuel tank (HDPE, I assume?) is secured at its top and sides by several irregularly-shaped pieces of foam rubber sandwiched between the tank and the rear fender. The old foam...
