Water against footer in the frost line

Perfect!! This is the information I was hoping for! I was wondering about connecting the downspouts into the drain tile, NOT a good idea. And frozen water against the side of the footer is no big deal. AWESOME!! Right now only the footer is in, I'll protect it during the winter. In the spring...

How much do you trust Liquid Nails?

If you ever want to take down the pegboard, getting that liquid nail off will be a PITA A good hammer drill and a nice sharp bit would be my choice.

Water against footer in the frost line

Thanks for the reply DougWil ! Grade is sloped away from the building. And a drain pipe is going down to the street. But the bottom of the footing is not so lucky. My plan was to put the drain tile 4" below the top of the footer. The block garage is built into a hillside, so the back footers...

Water against footer in the frost line

Like the title says I have water against footer in the frost line. This is new construction and this part of the footer is 3 feet below grade but with with the down spouts and rear drain tile dumping into the front it will always be full of water. Right now the void is filled with 2B gravel and...

    Phoenix vs Atlas tire changer

Will it handle the the front tire on my backhoe? The size is 16.5L x 16.1 Diameter is 40" Not the mane purpose for buying a tire machine but it would be nice if it would fit.

    Phoenix vs Atlas tire changer

I called Phoenix and the guy was very helpful and knowledgable about their equipment. Altas however was no help and knew nothing about their equipment, at least as far as the harder than normal questions I asked. Phoenix is $750 cheaper for the combo set and looks to be a better quality unit...

    Block, Rebar, Backfill

Actually it's not even formed yet.  Not going to touch this with a 10 foot pole... Yes it freezes here in SW Pa. 32" Actually I planed on spray foaming the outside. Wasn't originally going to angle back the bank, but... Still searching the web on the whole thing. Been in constant...

    Block, Rebar, Backfill

I'm no engineer but, is it reasonable to think a 10"x20" footer with 2 #4 rebar and 10" block with #5 rebar every 4' or maybe 2' filled with concrete and with durawall every 3rd course and 2 1/2 feet of gravel with drain tile should hold back 8 feet of shale?

    Block, Rebar, Backfill

lukedwag I was told the bank will start to push, thats all I know. I haven't thought much about the trusses, other than using anchor bolts for the top plate 2x then toe nailing the trusses to it.

    Block, Rebar, Backfill

Since we’re past the footer dilemma, lets move onto the block. My Garage is going to be 40’ x 40’ 13’6” (21 courses) floor to ceiling. It will be below grade 8’ at the deepest point. It’s all shale with 2 1/2 feet to the bank. Originally I was going to use 8’’ block but I think 10” will be...

    Dug to deep

I got the rest of the digging done and after surveying the whole area I figured it would be easier to add another corse of block, so that will make it 21 rows. The deep area will be 10" instead of 18". The extra corse will give me more room for a lift.;)
