Years ago we were given my wife's grandmothers old upright piano. It was solid, but had several issues with the workings. I was ready to dismantle it and salvage what I could but my wife decided to invest in having it repaired instead. A piano shop did all the working stuff and I did the...
The winch came from Vevor, its rated for 880lbs on a single line or 1760 doubled. I only planned to use it in the single line configuration so went with the larger unit. They had smaller ones for a little less cash if you don't need that much capacity.
The sling set up seems to work pretty...
I have the same sort of crane, but from Princess Auto. I got it to lift a motorcycle up onto a rack and found the hand crank hoist to be far to sketchy for my liking so I upgraded it to a powered lifting hoist.
It works much better as I don't have to climb up to operate the hoist and I have a...
I do actually have a few spare chuck keys from an old chucks and drills that wore out and got replaced. The main key is kept stuck to the drill press with a magnet, so not truly a problem most of the time. But I do sometimes play games of hide and seek with myself.
It was a three step finish; aniline dye, stain, with oil finish and a coat of paste wax. The cushions for both chairs were made at a local upholstery shop, I lack any kind of talent for sewing.

Watch box in lacewood and walnut.
Mantel clock patterned after one my grandmother had. Authentic mechanical works with Westminster chimes
End grain cutting board walnut with maple and cherry.
Bow arm Morris chair and stool in cherry.
And...
My garage/workshop hosts a variety of disciplines as well including metal work and woodworking. Over the years I've worked at vastly improving dust capture at the source through various means depending on the tool. The larger machines connect to a piped dust collector, smaller tools get...
I wasn't entirely sure either until I got it up and running. :p It does have pretty high gear reduction on it and it was a higher capacity shredder. The effort required to crank it manually wasn't really that high, it was just the reach to get to it.
I've been wanting to make a power drive for my benchtop milling machine to raise and lower the head on the column since the bench I have it on makes it a bit of a reach to get to the manual crank wheel. I finally found the perfect donor motor and controls from a broken paper shredder. The...
