MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

I do have the same issue w/ the carriage not being plumb w/ the weight of a car on it. I wasn't as worried about this as I was about the clearance I started this thread about because the issue you noted is symmetrical and doesn't cause the car to tilt or pitch. I am going to be moving soon and...

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

I am not surprised these are all off by different amounts. They look like they were hand made. One of my columns was welded together w/ the end of the tubing slightly bent on the bottom, which made that assembly jam if I shimmed it too tight. I had to compromise there. Glad to hear you got yours...

Parts washers - solvent v. water v. bio

Hey Norm, any update on your experience with the Bio Circle system?

Are you happy with your MaxJax

Chops, that looks great. I would consider replacing the Maxjax with something beefier built some day, if my grand plans to build a garage that will let me use a full height 2 post lift don't come to fruition in a reasonable time frame (hard to save money when I keep spending it). Can you tell me...

Are you happy with your MaxJax

I had to shim the carriage slider blocks on my maxjax because of the really loose build tolerances on mine. I use my Maxjax pretty frequently and once I shimmed it, I have not had any problems with it. Before I shimmed the carriage slide blocks to fit snugly in the lift towers, a lifted car...

    max jack lifts uneven

My maxjax lifts one side about 3/4" higher than the other (not measuring off the floor, measuring the actual travel inside the posts) w/ the system bled and rebled multiple times, including bleeding it w/ weight on it. It's not enough to cause a problem but it does make me wince a little as I'm...

    Calling All MaxJax Owners

I have to double check my posts, I think I set them at 132". I have lifted my Infinti M37X, my 1999 old body style Chevy extended cab C1500 pickup truck, E39 BMW M5, E23 BMW 745i, a 2004 Ford Taurus, and a Ford Ranger, so far. I am about to lift a big old Lincoln Town car. Lifting the Ford...

Parts washers - solvent v. water v. bio

I am a DIY'er who normally uses a solvent parts washer to clean grimey differential and transmission internal parts when I do rebuilds. I am chemically sensitive and have to wear a full face respirator when I work with solvents, so I took a chance on trying a bioremediating benchtop parts...

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

Something else I forgot to note. A bonus I found from shimming the carriage is that it also eliminated the "normal" bouncy/jerky action some people have noted w/ this lift - I had seen people try to bandaid that problem by putting additives in the fluid. In my case at least, the bouncy/jerky...

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

Before: After shimming: In both the before and after pics, a 3600 lb car is on the lift, lifted to full height. I am happy w/ the result, although irritated that I had to figure this out myself, after a whole bunch of emails to Dannmar didn't yield any solutions. The slide block gaps I had...

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

I ended up using one 0.125" thick arbor shim per side to shim the the top slide blocks and one 0.093" thick shim for each of the bottom blocks. This took all of the original 0.25" slop out of the carriage assembly and consequently eliminated the ability for the vehicle to tilt 2" over its length...

    MaxJax Important Safety Notice

I was the first person I saw to report getting the initial letter in the mail from Maxjax on this issue. I just got a notice from USPS that I have another letter from Dannmar waiting at the post office today (certified mail). I wonder if this 2nd letter will be a duplicate of the first, or...

I just got this notice in the mail tonight. Awesome. I wonder if they found out about this additional issue from customer "feedback". Probably!

MaxJax owners, can you please look at my pictures and see if yours is like this

Hey guys. Sorry I disappeared for so long. I took my Maxjax towers apart and installed .125" thick shims from McMaster, part #3088A518, one behind each slide block. The slide blocks are just slip fit onto the center part of the carriage, and once you take the top strap off each tower and slide...

Hey thanks for your interest in following up. I bought shims from McMaster-carr and mocked them up and it's going to work, but I haven't installed them and tested the lift yet. I bought part #s 3088A518 and 3088A388 from mcMaster which are .125" and .020" thick 1.25" ID, 1.75" OD steel shims...
