Must be some cheap coating they use, as my Harbor Fright impact sockets don't have any rust on them.
If you're paying top dollar for Snap Off, they shouldn't be rusting.
I don't buy their wrench or socket sets because they skip sizes and the sizes that they do skip, are not available at HF so you need to fill in the missing tool with ones from other manufacturers which totally defeats the purpose of saving money.
I don't purchase their cordless power tools...
If you're not happy with the purchase, ask for a refund.
If you need the case and expected the case to be in working order, than ask for a refund or explain that a replacement case cost $30 from Snap On and ask the Seller that you'll split the difference on a new case.

Now it's hard to find a good selection and the prices are high......and probably the sellers too.
Contact Matco customer service and find a dealer close to you. I'm sure they'll even drop ship it to you since the Matco dealer has to get bulk items shipped the same way.
I use Member's Mark degreaser concentrate from Sam's Club, diluted with water in a spray bottle and spray it on a rag or shop paper towel and it cleans the grime off nicely without damaging the plastic, rubber or decals.
It's similar to Simple Green at a fraction of the price.
